This is my first time taking my son to Disney. I have been looking into what restaurants to eat at when we are there and I came across Whispering Canyons Cafe in a couple of books but they don't give much info. The two things I keep seeing is don't ask for the ketchup or get up to go to the bathroom...ok so what happens if you do? My son loves ketchup and would eat a bowl of it if I would let him. How's the food? Is this restaurant a must do for our first trip? Any info you can give me would be great!

It's sort of funny... I've seen every waiter & waitress bring a bottle of ketchup over to your table... and they make a big deal about it.

Have Fun and enjoy your trip,

Mark

I was so apprehensive about going to Whispering Canyon, but it was actually one of my favorite meals during my last vacation. It's great. Just play along.

:confused3 would love to know the same...what happens. I have a big ketchup eater as well.

When we went, my daughter asked for ketsup and I think we rec'd like 14 bottles!!!!

My son, 9 at the time, ordered a chocolate shake. Our waitress says to him "If I get you one, you won't spill it will you, because I don't have time to be cleaning up after a messy little boy" My son says, playing the game with her, "I probably will spill it, but I still want one" When she came back with our drinks, my sons shake was completely covered in masking tape right up to the straw, and she says " good luck spilling it". My son never laughed so hard.

You have to be in the mood to play around when you go there. If you take offense to that kind of humor, not your place to eat!!

Have fun whereever you go!!

My boys loved the WCC. My oldest ds asked for ketchup and we had to yell through the whold restaurant "We need ketchup!". Then everyone who had ketchup brought it over to us. They thought that was great, they also did some other crazy things that they thought were fun.

Be sure to ask for a straw-they will bring a giant one-ask for gum-oh No!
Wear a shirt from a non-Disney park-Oh No!
Your kids should be ready to ride the horse (stick Horse) around the restaurant singing!
There use to be a thread with all the little stuff out there to say, do and ask for. Anybody have it?

We loved WCC!!! The food was great and the atmosphere was enjoyable to us. Ask for ketchup and get many bottles but when someone else asks for it you must take it to them. Ask for straws too!! They brought dh a very large tea glass because he needed refills and made a loud announcement to the rest about it! We thought it was all in good fun. There were people there when we were who just didn't "play". I can't imagine being on vacation in such a fun place and not participating. Our family thought it was a hoot!:rotfl2:

Wilderness Lodge was beautiful we enjoyed walking around the property after dinner.

:thumbsup2

We just were there on the 10th for the first time with our 3 kids. From the views on the disboard I had to try it. This place is a hoot and you will love it. We weren't seated in the main area but off to the side with our backs to the lobby of the hotel. Our waitress played along with the theme and the kids loved it. I made the mistake of asking for a straw and she threw 4 at me:rotfl2: It is very loud in there and all the staff yell. They walk by with there trays in there hands with the cart to hold them up and stomp them on the ground like a horse. The table beside us asked for the ketchup and the staff all yelled they need ketchup and all the staff and guests brought there ketchup to the the table. Then they brought this big plastic 5 ft ketchup to the table and the kids went crazy. They also for the kids have a horse parade in the main area and they let the kids parade around all the tables. You will love this place but most of all go HUNGRY. You will roll out of this place afterwards...:rotfl2:

I used to like WCC. However after being there 2 years ago I don't think I would do it again. I felt the food was dry and bland. Definately not very good. The servers are good and really do get into their roles though.

We (DW + 2 DD + Me) had a great time there. The first morning we had just arrived still a bit jet lagged from our flights from Australia. So we ate very little. The server made a song and dance about DW only eating one of three pancakes and offered her food around to other customers to eat.

The table next to us got the ketchup treatment and ended up with at least 12 bottles.

The kids had a great time with the horse races. On one occassion someone had a birthday and they got them up to sing happy birthday to themselves whilst riding a horse around the entire lobby.

Good fun and the food we had was fine. Not a 5 star restaturant but then again we went for the fun.

It is way too much fun :rotfl2: I had my 3 adult kids with me a couple of years ago. I ordered the Margarita in the "tall" glass and they brought it with many loud comments on "look how much this lady is going to drink!"

My son went to the restroom and when he returned they asked if he had washed his hands. When he said yes, they asked what color the soap was!

The food was great as well, we all had a blast and a really good meal.

Wow from what you all have told me this sounds like a restaurant that my
DS would really enjoy! Now to see if they have any reservations left for the week I'm going. Thank You!

We took my parents without telling them what they were getting into. They were a bit put-off at first, but then got into it. My kids loved the pony races and my dd5 ordered ketchup just for the sake of having it delivered and then delivering it. We ordered the skillet and never had so much food. We had six people and a skillet for six is much more than the skillet for three we were used to ordering (my parents were with us and my young dd just turned 3 and now counted in the order). We honestly left several racks of ribs behind and had to take our desserts with us (which we ate for breakfast the next morning thank you very much!).

It wasn't gourmet....but it was really good!

Yeah!!!! :woohoo: I just called and got a reservation no problem! There were quite a few openings during the week I'm going, so I got my pick of what day and time. They said that we have the right size group (3) to get in with ease. I'm sooo excited. Do you think I should tell my son about the ketchup or just let him discover that on his own?

oh let him find out the hard way! lol we LOVED this place in december. it was fabulous and so much FUN FUN FUN for a couple of goofy 20 somethings

I'm debating on weather or not to tell my family about it before we go or just let them figure it our for themselves. We have a breakfast reservation there, and my DH uses ketchup on his hash browns. Does it work the same if you ask for syrup? Any other tips for breakfast?
