We will be enjoying our day @ MGM and then going over to Wilderness Lodge for a Sleigh Ride @ 7:30 pm on 12-22-04.

I made PS for Artist Point. However, I am wondering if I should have made PS for Whispering Canyon.

Both menus look great!
Artist Point is more expensive and that is fine a long as it is worth the cost.
How is the ambiance of the restaurants?
We will not be dressed fancy (parks and sleigh ride) will that be a problem for Artist Point?
The PS is for 8:30 pm and I am wondering if that is too late for dinner, should we be thinking desert menu. There will be DH, myself and 7 (almost 8) year old DD.

Any advice?

I would personally stick with AP - The ambiance is amazing - fine to show up in Park clothes - we have often gone straight from touring to eating there. I think it is worth the price, we have eaten there a dozen times or more. It's almost a WDW tradition at this point.
I don't care for WC at all - It's so noisy! But your 7 year old might like it. My DS has always preferred AP, tho.
I don't think 8:30 is too late for dinner in WDW, we always seem to wind up eating all our meals late there......

Artists Point is better for mom and dad.........but your DD would like Wispering Canyon more. They are VERY different............

Artists Point is a fine dining experience. Very good food, very nice atmosphere.....and from what I hear worth every penny.

Wispering Canyon is a fun, somewhat interactive dining experience, with good, but more standard, food. I don't want to give away too much of what goes on, but ask for catchup and look out for flying straws. There will be much waving of napkins and many a yee-haw, and some interactive events for the kids. It noisy, it's silly, and it's fun........and the milkshakes (all you can drink) are great.

So, it all depends on what kind of dining experience you are looking for. We have eaten at WC numerous time, but have yet to eat at Artists Point. The fine dining and ambiance of a place like AP can be lost when you have a crying baby and a fidgetty 2 your in your party ;).

We discovered Artist Point on honeymoon last December, and we LOVED it! Our service was absolutely excellent, and the food was fantastic! We literally can't wait to return. A good way to describe it is casual fine dining. The atmosphere isn't stuffy at all, and the food is not served in "artistic portions" that look pretty but are tiny. There's plenty of food on the plates, LOL! Be sure to save room for the berry cobbler! :)

I realize they are in the same resort but they are as different as night and day. IMHO Artist Point is second only to California Grill as WDW's best restaurant. Whispering Canyon's food is more "home-style" food and the atmosphere is wild and crazy. It is kind of Disney's version of Ed Dibivic's.

Thanks!

I appreciate everyone's feedback. We are keeping the Artist Point PS. After the Sleigh ride I want a nice, quite atmosphere with good food and wine.

DD is pretty reserved and I am sure will enjoy the atmosphere too!

I can't wait!

Depends on how much of the "antics" you can stand. Even if they leave you alone, you still have to watch (and hear) all of it going on around you.
I had breakfast at WC but once and that was it for me--never again.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ::yes::
What he said. :)

We had planned on having dinner at WC, but after spending two days dealing with hurricane Frances, our nerves were a little too frayed to deal with eating there. We opted for AP instead and it was a great experience.

We have found that if you let your server know that you've had a long day or the kids are shy and don't want to be involved they'll leave you alone. It wasn't that way in the beginning but I think they wised-up.

I agree...WC is "cute" the first time, but DH and I do not care to eat there again. Even if your server leaves you alone, like uncleromelus said, you still have to see all the antics. DD enjoyed the "pony race " thing they do, but one time was plenty for us.

I hate to be the lone dissenter on this thread, but I am not so crazy about AP either! That is my one complaint about the WL...I do not really like the restaurants. I found the ambiance at AP lacking and the food to be too simple for the high prices! My DD did love the white chocolate puzzle that can with edible "paints.' It kept her very entertained although I think I might have heard they discontinued this dessert.

Obviously everyone's taste is different so I am anxious to hear your review of AP!

I decided to book at the Artist Point too after the Carriage Ride. I gave us a full hour between our ride's end and our ressies at AP. I know that it's a long gap, but we are staying at the WL and may need to get something out of our rooms, or just relax in the lobby. I'm looking forward to the Sleigh ride and dining at the AP with our 3yr old and 11yr old** That will be the only time we're eating at the Artist Point during our 12 day stay in December. We will be eating at the WC quite a bit! Still need Christmas Dinner recommendations...anyone?:) I have to book these tomorrow**
