Dear Dis friends...we are just two weeks away from our June 2017 trip!

We are on the regular dining plan and plan to use TS credit for a WCC dinner. We've never been, and I'm trying to figure out what to expect. In using TS credits, do we have to do the AYCE buffet, or can we order off the menu? When I looked at the menu, it looked like we had a choice, but I wasn't sure. My children are not very adventurous eaters, and I think they might do better ordering off the menu rather than eating the AYCE buffet.

Also, what antics can we expect? I have one outgoing DS who would love taking part in the antics, and one DS who would probably rather pass. I want to give my boys an understanding of what to expect, so any advice you have would be awesome. Thank you so much!!!

You can definitely order off the regular menu or AYCE. Our family prefers the AYCE but met friends there for breakfast before and they did order off menu. All the kids and adults enjoyed the antics but you definitely don't have to participate. The CM's are good about picking up on this and will engage as much or as little as you would like. If you ask for ketchup they will ask everyone in the dining room to bring their ketchup to your table- so your kids may still enjoy doing t. They used to bring soda out in a huge mason jar if you ordered soda for breakfast- which my DH does because he doesn't like coffee. We knew what to expect when we went with friends but let them be surprised. The CM we had that time had all the kids cheering for him and chanting for their food to be served. They also do "pony races" around the dining room. We did go for dinner one time after a long day and had an excellent CM who must have picked up on this and just joked around with us but gave us excellent service and was really personable with all of us. Enjoy!

You can order from the regular menu or the AYCTE skillet. Note that the AYCTE is not a buffet - they bring the skillet to your table and then refill it as you ask for more of something. Also note that if someone orders off the regular menu, they can't eat ANY of anyone else's skillet - they'll be charged for a skillet as well. No skillet sharing. :)

As Cinderella said, the skillet isn't a buffet. It's a platter of food brought to the table and served family style (for anyone who orders it to eat off of). You can use a TS credit for a regular entree or the skillet.

We've been to WCC several times. The first couple, the antics were mostly having other diners bring EVERY bottle of ketchup to one's table when someone asks for ketchup; and bringing a comically large mason jar of soda when asking for a refill. More recently, we've also seen them put diners in "jail" (they had prop jail bars); our server told several corny jokes; and when my DH and brother both ordered multiple soda refills, our server made a huge production of bringing out what looked like one of those metal containers kitchens use to hold prepped ingredients filled with soda (two straws sticking out, and he carried it through the dining room to a lot of fanfare), but when he got to our table, there was actually a mini mason jar (salt shaker size) of soda inside with two straws! Everyone in the restaurant was laughing.

Thank you so much for the info. I'm grateful for the clarification, as the WDW site references WCC as a buffet, so I'm glad to know that we can choose the skillet/family style or ordering from the menu. If some of us order the AYCE skillet, we'll make sure we don't share skillet food, if some of us choose to order from the menu.

The antics sound fun...I'm grateful to be able to give my guys a heads up about what to expect. Thanks so much, Dis friends!

We love this restaurant and just sitting here reading the antics makes me smile thinking of how much fun this place is and well worth the trip even if you are not staying in the resort!!

Whispering Canyon is one of our favorite places to eat at WDW. Love the décor, the interaction of the waiters and the food is good. You will not be disappointed in my opinion.
