I know Whispering Canyon gets mixed reviews here, for both food and service quality. We, however, enjoyed our meal here greatly. Our server was Hickory (even though her name tag said Wendi). This place really needs 3 separate reviews food, service, entertainment.
Food We all ordered the breakfast platter. That came out very quickly. The waffles were a combination of the regular Mickey Head waffles and Pine Cone waffles. These were very good. The syrup for the waffles is served warm/hot in a pitcher. And it sure does stay hot for the whole meal. The eggs were just typical scrambled eggs not good, not bad, just scrambled. The bacon was good it wsasnt burnt to a crisp, nor was it slimey and greasy. My favorite thing on the whole platter was the sausage. These were nice, plump logs of sausagey goodness. They were done well, not charred, nor pink inside (I detest pink sausage). They also arent too spicy. In short the sausages were like the Baby Bears porridge just right. Carl gave the red skin potatoes high marks, though he left the sautéd onions behind. The biscuits were okay like the eggs, they were just biscuits. The sausage gravy was the only real disappointment to me. It was starchy, not much sausage in it, just kinda bleh.
Service The only complaint we had about quality of service is that it was a little slow at times, particularly on drink refills. The initial drink order was taken in a timely manner, as was the initial food order. Our food refill was prompt as well. Coffee refills were prompt and frequent, but while we got two soda refills quickly, the third was a little longer coming. Our waitress was pleasant, helpful and fun.
Entertainment We had a really good time here. This was voted as the most fun restaurant by all 4 of us. We felt like we got the full experience. First we were given crayons and pages to color. Our napkins were tossed up in the air over the table for us to catch. When 3 of us ordered Cokes for breakfast we heard from the whole restaurant what were appropriate breakfast drinks. When our drinks came our silly sticks (aka straws) were tossed up over the table. Darla told them we were celebrating my birthday so I had to do the stick pony trot around the restaurant. It was a really fun time, though it did get a bit loud. If you dont like loud in the morning skip this one.
