Hi! Anyone remember me? Yeah, I thought not. Well, anyway, Mark finished HIS, thereby making me look bad... and things have slowed down slightly at work, so maybe I'll git r done after all. It was my New Year's Resolution, you'll recall.
It is Day 6, the halfway mark of our vacation. Sad that it is half over... and yet, we still have half of it left!!
So without further ado: Monday.
Another big day on tap. Firstly, the Maelstrom Meet. And secondly,
MNSSHP. We were looking forward to both with great anticipation.
We arrived at Epcot right around opening time (I think; I don't have any notes about the time), and the sign said the Soarin' wait was 10 minutes. We hustled over. To find that the wait time was more like...uh...40 minutes. No thanks! Instead, Mark went to grab us FPs for Test Track. Wesley and I rode Figment. And then we sauntered over to Character Connection for a few poses with the Fab Five, plus Chip and Dale. I believe we were on our way to Test Track when we ran into Ash and Mr Ash. We left with see ya soons, and off to Test Track we went. When we were done, we got more FPs. Can't be without FPs, you know. By now World Showcase was open, so we headed over to ride Maelstrom. Grammy and Mr Grammy (he'll love that, won't he?!) were there, so we chatted with them for a few, admiring Gram's terrifically short skirt. Which she had...borrowed. She offered to let me wear it. I feared the wrath of its owner. And also. I was afraid my undies would show!!

On to the ride we went, because, you know, we actually do LIKE this ride!
Once we were done, several more had gathered, MOST of whom we had already met, but not all. After pondering the whereabouts of Kimmie for a while (it was a heart attack, we heard, either that, or she was just passed out, in France), everyone finally arrived. A glittering assembly, as Maleficent said to King Stefan and his Queen. That we were! Glittering, every one of us! Everyone got a good laugh over Grammy in Sher's skirt, and they went to the bathroom for a little wardrobe switcheroo (not to be confused with a wardrobe malfunction), and at last all the Vikings were ready to paste on their brightest smiles and pose. For 37 dozen pictures. With half that many cameras. And yet for some reason, only, like, 2 people have those photos actually ON their cameras. Weird, that.
Well, next, we had to actually RIDE the ride for which we are named. Right? And can you believe that some our Maelstromers had never, ever been on Maelstrom? I'm sure the Norway employees didn't know what to think when all of us descended upon them and their pavilion. But with that many of us, at least it gave them something to do for a few minutes. Wesley was momentarily adopted by Sher, and they rode together in the front. More pictures were taken. Two boats (I think) were filled. It was fun. It was a momentous occasion. It was the culmination of friendships: a bunch of crazy people who had found one another online (only six months ago!!) and planned the ultimate "let's meet" trip. And the really awesome thing was, it wasn't like we were meeting for the first time. (Okay, some of us weren't. We'd already met several people, and Sher, Horsey, Grammy and a few others also had met.) But still, you know what I mean. And after the boat ride, we had to take more pictures. With the troll. In Viking hats. Oh yes. We were the talk of Norway that day.
Then the party moved to Mexico. You know, margaritas and all that. We had a little time to talk to people more. We discussed the best month to come to WDW with Kimmie and Doug (we agreed on January!); we talked with Jami about lots of different things; we talked to Haley about what we'd been doing (they'd been there as long as we had been); we talked to Ash about DVC. (No fair, because now SHE has it!!) Sher talked to Wesley about...well...probably Sher. And Wesley. Their two favorite subjects.

Phone calls were made to some of our missing. It was fun. We didn't want to leave. But we had to get ready for our other big doin's: the Halloween Party. First, though, we snuck in a Disney Visa picture. And then used our FPs for Test Track. And then... back to the room. For a "rest".
A "rest" which, if I recall correctly, didn't actually materialize. Which meant that Mark and I were pretty grumpy (both with Wesley, and each other) by the end of it. Hmm. This doesn't bode well for the evening!
We had an early dinner at The Plaza, and it wasn't until after we ate that we got over our grumpiness, and started to have fun. (But at least it didn't last too long!) We were walking through Fantasyland when we ran into Jami and her friend. (Hi Jam!) Wesley posed for a picture or two. And about that time, a CM came out with a freshly baked cookie. She told Wesley that she and Snow White had been baking, and they just had too many left over. Would he like one? Well, yeah! Of course he would! He might have even said Thank You. But I don't recall! We said our goodbye's to Jami and her friend, and headed for the Haunted Mansion. How awesome! The CMs all had on makeup and looked really creepy.Very nifty! A nice touch!
We thought we'd try to see some characters while the lines were relatively short, so we popped in County Bounty. There we found Cinderella and Prince Charming, and Aurora and Phillip! Aurora came right over to Wesley and introduced Prince Phillip to him. Then Prince Phillip signed his shield, and they discussed the finer points of dragon slaying. A few pictures and we were off in search of candy. We took the trail, and saw Alice, the White Rabbit, the Queen of Hearts... and got more candy than Wesley would be allowed to eat in 5 years. Then suddenly, out came Snow White and all 7 dwarfs! We'd never seen them all before (except in the parade), and we followed them to their greeting place. Snow White was very taken with Wesley, and she loved his costume. We were allowed two pictures, which we got, and then we were hurried away. But not before Snow White blew Wesley lots of kisses.

We got in line to see Jasmine and Aladdin, but they had to go find Abu so we didn't get to see them. Then we went through the Adventureland character trail thingy, and saw King Louie, Timon, Tarzan and Terk. Tarzan really liked Wesley. He talked (grunted?) to him a lot. We got lots of good pictures. For which I was grateful. Because. Well. Tarzan is hot. HOT. Oh my. Even Mark and I got to be in a picture with him. Only. He talked more to Wesley than to me. Rats. Though really, I didn't necessarily want to talk to him. I just wanted to look at him. So I guess it was all good! Then we went back to find Aladdin and Jasmine. Jasmine really liked Wesley. Probably because she knows that he thinks she's a hottie. She was very sweet. Only, Aladdin kept trying to talk to Wesley. When Wesley obviously wanted to talk to Jasmine. And she obviously wanted to talk to him! Oh...I get it. Aladdin was jealous. Well. Understandable. She was kissing all over Wesley and everything! After several minutes with them, we decided we'd better let everyone else have a turn.
By now it was time for HalloWishes. Pretty cool! Then Mark got our parade spot, while Wesley and I rode Haunted Mansion again. The parade was really neat. Wesley was a little frightened. Or. Maybe. A LOT frightened. Of some of it. He hid behind me, at any rate. But then he talked about it the rest of the trip, so who knows! We saw the castle show, and we really, really wanted to get a picture of Wesley (Prince Phillip) and Maleficent, but he would have no part of that. We didn't push it. Especially when he produced real, actual tears. Okay, okay, forget it!
We waited in line for-evah to have our picture taken in front of Cindy's coach, and then got to ride Peter Pan twice. Because some dummy had gotten off the ride to take her kids' pictures. And they had to stop the ride for her to get back on. But. They forgot to turn on the sound when they restarted the ride. So. We got to go again. However, it was the end of the evening, when all the rides were closed... and yet, they let this crazy lady, who had held up the whole ride, get back in there, pose her kids on a boat, and take their picture. Even though SHE had broken the rules. Hmmm. Sometimes I think Disney is a little TOO lenient. But what do I know?
It had been a wonderful evening. Night. Whatever. But now we were exhausted. We arrived back in our room around 1am. I don't think any of us were awake for long!
