Hello!!
I saw the ad for that wine and dine 1/2 marathon thing, too.... I really wanted to do it! Like you, I am realllly not a runner- the most I've run at the gym is 2 milesHowever, I read that for this particular 1/2 marathon you have an option to split up the 13 miles with a relay partner- so I tried to convince my husband "you can run the 1st half and I'll run the 2nd half!" (He's ran the FULL Disney marathon, for crying out loud!) His reaction- "You actually think you can run 6.5 miles?
"
Oh well.. there's still time to try and convince him I guess! LOL
You can run the 1/2 in October. You've plenty of time to train. Google "C25k" and download the podcasts from Robert U -something (I can't recall his last name). It will have you running a 5k in nine weeks. Keep up the running, about 3 days/week, after you finish the nine week program to form a solid base. About July or so - began this ten week beginner half marathon training program:

Here's a link to the site as I can't make that chart look very presentable: http://www.marathonrookie.com/half-marathon-training.html
I would try to do at least 90% of the runs outdoors. There really is a difference between the treadmill and running outside. Outside you have things factor in such as terrain, wind and various weather conditions which all make it tougher on your body than what a indoor treadmill does. If you have to train on a treadmill, keep the incline a 1 - 2% to make your run harder.
But, seriously, all of you on this thread can run the half marathon at Disney in Oct. if youre willing to put in that type of training for it. It is very doable.
