Anyone have any tricks on avoiding catching a cold from flying? Have you been sick at WDW? If so,do you enjoy the world from your hotel room or pop some cold meds and carry tissues?Of course I'm talking about a cold and not a bad bug/fever?

I think the best thing you can do to prevent getting a cold in the first place is eat right, take your vitamins, get plenty of rest.... In the past we've take Airborne right before our flight to help boost our immune systems. I also usually take sanitizing wipes and wipe down the arms and tray table on the airplane (I doubt they clean the planes that thoroughly). Try not to touch your face... wash your hands frequently. Sometimes if a colds gonna catch you, it just will so at least if you're pretty healthy to begin with, hopefully you'll get over it faster.

I've been seeing ads for Zycam, which is supposed to help decrease the amount of time you have a cold also, if you start taking it during the early stages.

hth.

Now, don't laugh, but I have read somewhere that a reason that people get sick in planes is that the air is dry and resued...the mucus lining in your nose gets dry and cannot do the job it is supposed to do. Therefore, I have read that some people bring saline mist to spray up their nose to keep it moist and some who travel a lot put a little lotion on their fingers and put a bit up their nose to keep it from drying out... :confused3 Not kidding and I guess when I heard this it made sense.

Thanks guys; now that you mention it I think I heard about the saline before to.

I agree about the wipe down. We bring anti-bacterial wipes and wipe down everything. Also, when drinking use the napkin to hold the cup.

This holds true once you get to WDW was well. Think about how many bugs and viruses from all over the country are brought to WDW. We wipe down everything in the hotel room...especially the toilet flushing thing, fauctets, remotes, alarm clocks, door knobs, hardware on drawers, etc.

I would rather be an OCD germ-a-phobe than sick on vacation! :)

Also, get LOTS of rest before the trip. Running yourself ragged will not help the cause.
