Kath reminded me on the WISH check in thread that if I'm turning to comfort food that I need to turn to you guys! DUUUUUHHHHH!!I'm just naturally an upbeat kind of gal- and when I get handed a little bit of stress I try to shrug it off but somehow I comfort myself with food.
Here's the stress....
Dh found out last week that his company will move him to New Orleans in January. They're too small a company to pay for much relo so a concern is selling the house so we don't go in debt if he has to rent an apartment while we wait for it to sell. I homeschool our precious three children- and the thought of not having dh here for the kids is too much worry. Since we most likely will move anyway (not many software engineering jobs in Memphis area) we're trying to look at all opp's in areas where there is a bigger concentration. Texas appeals to us because it's still southern(something about a southern accent that makes me feel at home
) but a big enough tech industry where he could stay even if a defense contract falls through (he's contracted with the Department of Defense). So many "what if's" going around. I put the for sale by owner sign in the yard- that brings a whole slew of issues- having to keep the house in "show" condition with three kids while I homeschool and packing up a room at a time is making fixing healthy meals a chore. It's easier to run to fast food, make a peanut butter/jelly with doritos lunch, and those runs to the grocery for more fresh fruit/veggies are getting farther between.
So now I just need good thoughts/ideas on how to make it through the next two months and still manage to be a loser- I really want to lose 13 more pounds before New Years. There I'm done with my whining- the great news is that dh and I both are very excited about what will happen when we get where we're going- God has always shown us clearly that He's got our back...for that we are sooo grateful. And I'm sooo grateful for all the wonderful successes and support from you guys- I wouldn't have made it this far (54 pounds as of today!) without any of you!
Thanks guys!
Tara

Tara! I know exactly how you're feeling. DH and I went through the same situation 3 years ago. It can be scary and wonderful all at the same time. I wish I had some suggestions for you about healthy eating. Not only is fast food quicker, it is a lot easier when trying to keep your house in show condition. Maybe you could think of some meals you could prepare in advance and store, so all you need to do is defrost/reheat. Maybe you could somehow work a trip to the market into your lesson plan, to give you an extra incentive to keep good things for you and your dear ones in the house. The most important thing you can do right now is sit down and make a priorities check list. What has to be done, what you feel needs to be done and what you would like to do. It gives you a reminder of why you are doing things that you may not want to do or may not be used to doing. It also gives you permission to put your diet on the back burner if necessary. Shoot for maintainace, if that is what needs to be done. Remember, moving is the 3rd most stressfull event in our lives, but it is a temporary situation. Take care of your family, treat yourself well, and remember God's got your back!
