Wondering which I should do, I have 45 pts to use.
Trip 1- June 27 to July 4, 2014( can't stay after the 4th).
Trip 2: December 20 to December 27, 2014

Do you think going before Christmas week to Disney is crazy?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the June/July trip would have lower crowd levels. Christmas week, though more festive, generally has a higher crowd level. But then again I've never gone at either time so I could be wrong

Unless you just like to swim and all the water / hot weather stuff you can only do in the summer, I'd go at Christmas. Yes, I think it will be insane crowd wise, but I don't think peak summer season will be that much better, not enough to justify choosing solely by crowd levels. The weather will be better in Dec, and you will have all the holiday decorations and entertainment to enjoy. Even if the lines in Dec are long, you still have all the holiday activities and shows to enjoy. In the summer, you just have lots of kids and heat. Personally, the only way I'd ever visit Disney not on the off season is if it was Christmas. I think I could get past the crowds and waiting for that, but in the summer no.

For December 16 to the 20,2014 at AKV, is our home resort.
It's 39pts for a Studio value .
Non-home resort(7mos out) BWV/OKW Studio Standard 44pts.

Now I just have to figure which is best - Location, Resort, Dining

We have not been to WDW at Christmas time in over 16+ years. So maybe Christmas is better. Thanks for your help

Christmas, only because I prefer the humidity of a Florida winter over that of summer.

If you've never done Christmas week, it's worth putting on your bucket list. Yes, the crowds are insane. If you set the expectations that the trip will be mostly to enjoy the Christmas decor and atmosphere, and not necessarily to get on many rides, it can still be a very enjoyable trip.

At the same time, there are some pretty awesome fireworks on the 4th of July. When we did it (last year?), MK did their special fireworks on both the 3rd and 4th, and DHS did fireworks on the 4th. We did MK on the 3rd and DHS on the 4th to be able to see both shows. At MK, they shoot them off from both the normal location behind the castle and from out on the Seven Seas Lagoon, so when you're on Main Street, the fireworks are both in front of and behind you. Since there normally aren't fireworks at DHS, this was a neat opportunity to see them over the hat. Again, it's a very crowded time, so go with the expectation that you won't get on as many rides as you might during a less-crowded time.

I'd go in December. The weather can be beautiful, and the decorations are lovely. AKV is our home resort, and we love it, but have also enjoyed staying at BWV. The convenience of BWV to Epcot and HS is a plus for sure.

The week before Christmas can be quite nice with definitely lower crowds than Christmas week itself. You should try to do everything that really matters to you then and then the crowds Christmas week won't bother you so much. This year it was really nice weather the weeks before but you would need to be prepared for any temperatures. I would rather wait in long lines in the cooler weather than in the heat and humidity of July.

I agree with the Christmas time recommendations. Having been at both times of the year, Christmas was far better than July. My memory of our Fourth of July trip is standing in line for the new Captain EO attraction. A line that stretched far across the middle of Epcot. From the sun beating down on us, we felt like puddles were forming under us as the sweat poured off of us.

There is much more to do at Christmas. In addition to all of the wonderful decorations, there are the daily Candelight Processionals, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, and special Holiday shows and Character Greetings. These are things you won't see at any other time of the year.

Whatever your choice, have a Magical Time!

Christmas week!!! We are here right now and did the same three years ago - love it!! Honestly the crowds are not bad until about Christmas Eve. Now from then on it is packed but hours are very extended so either go early or late and you'll be ok. The decorations are beautiful! And no humidity, which I cannot stand! Been twice in the summer months and our family much prefers fall/winter!

I agree, Christmas! We have been that week and it is crowded but manageable, and no heat and humidity. In our experience, the week leading up to Christmas is not as crowded as the week of New Years. Even the first few days of January felt more crowded to me than the week leading up to and including Christmas.
