Which would you do? Fantasmic or MVMCP?

Ok, so we have plans for Nov on one night to go MGM. Dinner at Sci-Fi then Osbourne Lights then Fantasmic. We have 2 DDs, ages 5 and 2.5. They have never seen Osbourne Lights or Fantasmic. MGM closes at 7pm that night. DH & I were thinking, now maybe we dont want to try Sci-Fi. Problem is, we can't get into any restaurant now that would work w/getting to Osbourne Lights and Fantasmic.

So, we were discussing maybe doing MVMCP that night instead. We have MVMCP planned already for another night, so this would be our 2nd time. Paying to go to it twice is not an issue. We went last year, and DDs LOVED the Christmas party, so it would be worth it for us to do this twice. Then, hopefully we could get somewhere to eat in a hotel near MK, and since it doesnt even start til 7, we have more flexibility w/dinner.

I thought of trying to do both, that wont work. Which would you do? Thanks!

If you haven't seen the osborne lites or Fantasmic, then i'd stick with MGM since you've done MVMCP before and are planning on doing it this trip already. The lights are really pretty. and with MVMCP being a late night out for both little and big people the other advantage of MGM might be an early evening relaxing at your hotel with a nice glass of wine while the kids mellow out to some disney movie. I have never enjoyed SciFi dinner (imho limited menu-slow service) but i seem to be in the minority on that opinion.

Your little ones will LOVE Osborne lights! We took DD at 5 and she was enchanted with them. I say if you're already going to do MVMCP, don't miss the lights, and Fantasmic is so unique it would be a shame to miss it.

As far as the Sci-Fi goes, my opinion on that is fun atmosphere, very mediocre food (and slow too, as another poster mentioned.) Why not do a Counter Service meal instead if you cant's get ADR's -- the kids would probably get a kick out of Pizza Planet since it's modeled on Toy Story -- but you may want to consider whether your littlest one might be scared by the "aliens" in the sci-fi movies. Our 5-yr old was fine, but I'm not sure about a 2.5-yr old. It all depends on the child.

I'd do Fantasmic & the Osborne Lights. I think seeing all of those decorations and lights will be a real treat for your little one's.

I would stick to your original plan and do both Scifi/fantasmic/osborne lights and MVMCP. No doubt about it.

I'd stick with the lights and Fantasmic. Since you'll already have a night at MVMCP, the lights and Fantasmic are wonderful to see. I think the kids will really like the lights - when we were there last year we kept everyone entertained looking for hidden mickeys in the lights. Also, Fantasmic is a great show (just sometimes a bit chilly if you're close to the water, so perhaps bring a blanket if it's colder out).

If it was me I would keep my original plans and see Fantasmic and Osborne lights since you've already experienced MVMCP and are going to another MVMCP this year. Fantasmic is amazing and so are the lights. Your girls will love both.

DEFINITELY stick to MGM...Fantasmic and the Osborne Lights are SOOOO
worth it! Regarding the Sci-Fi, we were just there a few months ago with our 2 DD'S 3 & 8 and they were not impressed. It was very dark and the movie clips that are shown were kinda scary for them. I would try for another restaurant or just eat counter service. The ABC commissary is very nice and it actually it adjacent to the SCI-Fi and they share a common bathroom. Hope this helps! Either way MGM is the way to go!

Just a heads up - if you decide on a 2nd MVMCP be sure and check for ADRs BEFORE you let your SciFi ADR go - just called the other night to get an ADR at Chef Mickeys for dinner while we're staying at CR (week after T'giving - so supposedly slow time) and they didn't have anything for 2 until 9 PM on either of the MVMCP nights I was looking for! That surprised me, so just didn't want you to assume that you would get something near MK on those nights - hopefully you will, though!
My gang were all scared in SciFi until they were about 5 or 6 - the giant bugs and aliens freaked them out (and the darkness). DGrD (3) and I are holding one night open with the same options you're considering - either an MGM night or a 2nd MVMCP - I'm going to see which I feel like doing by the end of the week (or if we managed to squeeze in an MGM night sooner) and we will just rely on counter service for that evening. :smooth:

Thanks for the input...maybe we'll just stick to our original plans and get counter service if we decide against Sci Fi. Thanks again!
