Going during F&W for 4 nights, 6 adults. Friend's 60th falls in middle. Currently booked in studio and 2 bedroom at BWV. Seems like recent comments on condition of BWV haven't been so good so thinking of getting get Grand Villa for part of stay which would mean we need to split stay. Choices are 1 night in OKW Grand Villa followed by 3 nights in AKV Jambo or 2 nights in OKW Grand Villa followed by 2 nights in Grand Villa at VGF. Could also do all 4 nights at SSR but it doesn't seem to have much "wow factor."

I would choose SSR so you can get all the nights at the same place. I think SSR could be a great spot, especially if you get a GV with a DTD view. DTD is fun at night and an easy trip from SSR. Of course I am one who really likes SSR, so if you are one who has tried it in the past and still give it a 'meh' then maybe waitlist the OKW GV. There are more of them than at AKV or BWV so you may have a better chance of it coming through. Good luck, and have fun planning, sounds like a great trip!

I agree with ercrbc, stay at SSR the whole time. Request the DTD/water view, IMO the best view in WDW.

Having to move a few times during a 4 night stay would suck up any "wow" factor you might experience.

The more important issue than whether or not BWV's condition is up to par, is you have some one celebrating their 60th but you are interested in staying at 2 different resorts over 4 nights ? I can't imagine wanting to change resorts when I was 30 let alone at 60.

Even though Disney and DVC makes it fairly easy to change resorts, it is still not seamless and takes time and effort on everyone.

For only 4 nights, pick a resort and go with it. I am not a big SSR fan, but I would much rather spend 4 nights at SSR than 4 nights scattered all over WDW.

I'd stay with BWV so you could walk to the F&W festival instead of taking a bus and hiking through Future World. That way you can just go to and from whenever you like.

BWV condition isn't any worse than any of the other resorts. You just get whiners some of the time. We were there for F&W for one night (TOT 10 Miler race) and it was just fine.

I agree I have stayed at BWV many times and have never had a bad stay and the accommodations are not as bad as others have stated. The easy to get to Epcot is ideal and there are some nice restaurants on the Boardwalk to celebrate the 60's birthday. A good idea might be to get a reservation at one of the great restaurants in Epcot on the day you visit the F&W festival.

Give up a BWV ressie at F&W time?!! Never heard THAT one before!:rotfl2: OP, that is one of the most desireabe DVC reservtions to get. I wouldn't dream of giving it up.

IMO moving is disruptive and I would never do a split stay for a short stay.

Either stay together in one place, (SSR) or keep the rooms at BWV for F&W fun.

Already gave it up and couldn't get it back. (I really hate that clown pool anyway.) The primary purpose of the trip is for the 6 of us to get together to celebrate and the others are pretty much leaving it up to me to decide where to stay. My wife and I went with our older kids at Xmas and the other couple not celebrating a birthday just went in January and stayed at AKL. We will probably only go to EPCOT one day (who knows where we will end up the others, maybe even take a taxi to Universal which my family did from VGF over the holdiays and found it to be a breeze, or just relax at the resort.) I've booked a Grand Villa at SSR but after giving this a little more thought, I am thinking perhaps a better option might be VWL. My wife and I like new so with the refurbishment we would definitely be happy (would be wonderful to have mattresses half as good as VGF.) The couple celebrating the birthday are foodies so Artist Point would be nice along with the relative ease of getting to the California Grill and other monorail restaraunts. And the couple that just got back make regular treks to the National Parks. Also, at our age, anything can ahppen to throw a wrench into plans so maybe a studio and a 2 BR would be better in case one of us would need to cancel. So tell me I'm thinking logically here (or crazy again.)

Good luck and have a great time with whatever you decide.
