Thinking of doing Values w/DH, & our two DS's 11 & 8. Would love to stay at AoA, the thought of a basically brand new hotel is great, but we don't want to spend the extra $$ on a suite...so a Little Mermaid room it would be.

"Tween" DS's would not be amused, lol.

I totally know #1, they aren't paying for the trip and theyll sleep where they sleep ;), and #2, they won't be spending much time in the room in the first place....on the other hand I would like the trip to be fun for everyone.

Would you book a LM room or stay at Pop and walk over to visit AoA??

We've never stayed at a value before, either stayed offsite or Deluxe. So this will be a new experience for all of us.

I am not sure that boys at that age would like Mermaid rooms, I would stay at POP or even sports

If you are really into staying there, I would say do it. I have a boy and a girl so I foresee that they will have to compromise in the future on boy vs girl themed hotels. If you could take it or leave it, I would stay at Pop.

I think Pop has more older boy appeal. Those AoA rooms are loaded with the theme of the movie, which could be Mermaid Overload.

I always wondered why on earth The Little Mermaid is the only section at AoA with single rooms? There are so many more gender-neutral movies they could have picked for that section. :confused3

I wouldn't mind staying at AoA in 2013, but the suites are out of our budget and neither my kids (then, 17 yo ds and 15 yo dd) nor I find a Little Mermaid room that appealing.

Keep in mind, AoA has other themed areas as well. I mean, I realize you would stay in the Little Mermaid section to be in a standard room, but your boys might enjoy wandering around the rest of the resort other than where your room is located. The Big Blue pool is in the middle of the resort. The Cars, Lion King and Nemo areas all have interesting things to see. The food court, lobby and gift shop all are geared to everyone. So, in a nutshell, sure the room might be themed to Little Mermaid, but the rest of the resort is themed with everyone in mind.

Two tween boys... I would personally go with POP and just stroll across the bridge and walk around the ground and have lunch/dinner there. I don't know how your boys will feel sleeping in the LM suite. But I think they will be fine at POP.

We are staying at POP and we are going to check out AoA and have lunch or dinner there.

I know it sounds silly, but my DS8 would have a fit if we booked a LM room....he is just in that stage where anything girly is repulsive...too bad it won't stay that way :lmao: I would book Pop and just walk over to AoA and check it out.
