Which would you choose? WOC Dessert Party or AP MP

I have considered doing the WOC Dessert Party on our November trip for my DDs' 13 birthdays. Now I'm thinking about how busy the parks will be and wondering if I wouldn't be better to spend that money and purchase MP for our APS. We will likely take 1 more 5 day trip before they expire next summer.
Thoughts??

We do enjoy WOC and are looking forward to seeing the Christmas version but we usually don't mind using FP for the later show and just camping on the bridge in line to get good view. Everyone on the boards raves so much about the Dessert Party, I was considering caving and trying it out, but now I'm thinking MP would be more beneficial long term.

I really enjoyed the WOC dessert party, but with the MaxPass you also get photopass (which includes ride photos), so with that in mind, and holiday photo opportunities, I'd go with the maxpass.

Since you're in the "don't mind camping out on the bridge" group I'd do MP. I loved my first WOC desert party, recommended it to god and everyone after ...but not the last one I did. [RANT WARNING] This last time I arrived at 9pm, when check-in started, and spent over 30 mins standing in the check in line. The servers were super stressed- I can't even tell you which one was ours things were so hectic. It was not relaxing at all this time and missing the first 30 mins becuase I was dumb enough to show up at start time was 100% unnecessary. To get the most out of the dessert party you have to camp out at minimum half an hour before check-in was my conclusion. At that point, if you don't mind waiting for WOC and standing to see the show- why bother? [RANT DONE] AP MP all the way.

We did the dessert party and were disappointed, I wouldn't recommend going that route.

I was also disappointed in the dessert party when we did it a year ago, but tons of people rave about it. Most people say you're paying for the view, not the food, but our view was not so good, and drinks and service were pretty bad, so the food was all it had going for it. Even if we had had a better experience, I still think I would choose MP. The dessert party is only one night, whereas MP will give you a benefit for every day of both trips. Granted, I haven't tried MP yet, but I've heard good things. I've given this some thought because I'm also planning a holiday trip and looking forward to seeing the holiday WOC (regular WOC was the highlight of my first trip in 2014), but I haven't even considered doing the dessert party again. I'll probably do a dining package and/or camp out and save the money. I do plan on getting MP for our AP's.

Given a choice between the two I'd go with MaxPass, since you don't mind camping out for a good place at the second show. MP will be far more beneficial for your days at DLR!

I was in the parks (2017) October 2nd through the 7th with my two DGD(20). While I go quite often,I had never done the WOC Dessert Party.

Being height challenged, watching the show was from the general area did require a chunk of time to get a spot where I'd be able to see.
This trip I didn't want to waste the time and energy it takes to get a BEST spot for the show, so I sprung for the Dessert party for three of us.

WOC showed at 8:15, the instructions were to arrive for seating at 7:30. We arrived about 7:15 and were about the tenth group in line.
Check in at the podium went fast. When we walked down to the dessert area, they looked at a seating chart and escorted us to our table.
Our server was right there for our drink request. She checked on us often but not too often. When I wanted something she was right there to tend to my request. So nice.......

IT WAS THE BEST TIME SEEING WOC! The food was nice and the view was fantastic! I was happy to be sitting and in a chair at a table to boot.

I will do it again on my January birthday trip. The cost will be easier, I'm soloing then.

It is one of the more expensive things I've done in the parks, right up there with the tours.
But given my age, this old Geemo appreciates a chair for the show.

Max Pass all the way! We've done the Dessert party and absolutely loved it. But I'm one of those people who hate camping out for WOC. Everytime we've done it I feel like we have to physically defend our "spots" or we get pushed out of the way. So although we really loved the Dessert party, my vote is for Max Pass. I think you'll get way more use and value out of it!

I agree! The desert party is probably the only way i'll deal with WOC anymore but MP is so nice and useful for all your trips.

I loved the Dessert Party (and will be doing it again when we go in March), but, if I had to choose between it and MP, I, too, would choose MP. The Dessert Party lasts an hour-90 minutes. Maxpass can be your entire trip, and contribute to multiple experiences.

Sorry I just saw this! I read a blog post (not sure if I am allowed to say which one), that raved about it, so perhaps my expectations were too high. The night we arrived I am pretty sure we waited in line almost an hour, if not more, to the point that I was starting to get nervous we wouldn't be seated and would miss it. It took a really long time for a server to even acknowledge that we were there, and we got our food before any drinks (drinks were close to the end of the show, and by the time they took our order they were out of some things). The food looked beautiful, but really didn't have much flavor. I love cheese and I love sweets, doesn't even have to be fancy, and I would have enjoyed those Kraft cheese cubes often found on premade party trays a ton more than I did this meal. The show itself was fine, but I regretted that so much of our one day at Disneyland was spent standing in line to get into a paid event (in hindsight I should have shown up much later than they requested perhaps) as it kept us from riding another ride, which was likely to have been Radiator Springs Racers. If we hadn't done the event we would have stood in line (granted, probably for much longer!) to ride that and then watched the show from a distance if it were still going on. I also thought it was overpriced compared to the food served. I get that you are paying to be seated and have a great view more than you are paying for food and alcohol, but they really could have stepped it up a notch. I go to a lot of equivalent-ish events and I generally never leave thinking "man, what were they thinking" in regards to food and beverage service.

Sorry to hear of the negative comments of WOC. We tried it with our trip in August. We lined up about 45 minutes before they started letting people in and were the 3rd to get seated. Food and drinks came right away, and we also got seconds on our drinks. Loved the seating/view, the desserts weren't the best we've had but they were good and loved the show! Was happy we splurged and went for it (and we're Canadian with bad exchange rate so it was even more for us)

Having said that, as others recommend, I also vote for MP. We used it for 3 or our 4 days and really loved it. It's so convenient and saved a ton of time and walking. I'm a huge fan of it and it is worth the extra money. And since WOC is one evening , but MP can be used with every trip, I vote MP.
