Which would you choose? Late August or Mid September, 2020

We are trying to pick dates for our next trip and have two weekends in mind: August 29 to September 2, 2020 or September 12 to 16, 2020. Both are Saturday through Wednesday, with likely park days on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. They are close enough together that I do not think there is much difference, but am I missing something? Are there any considerations that would make one more attractive than the other? Our priority is rides, lots of rides, without too much waiting. Thank you in advance for your advice and opinions!

Honestly if you can do the mid September dates, that's my recommendation. Although Disney is busy, pretty much all year round, that time of year may be the lowest crowds we've experienced. Although still hot, the further away from the summer heat, the better.

I think both of your choices will have relatively low crowd volume. Agree with the post above, the mid September date may be more preferable.

I went the week of Labor Day in 2017. The weather was absurdly hot and humid (to me, anyway) and there was a hurricane coming the day after I left, but the crowds seemed reasonable to me. I was able to do all the things I wanted to do. I wouldn’t do that timeframe again simply due to the weather, but if I only had a choice between August and September, I’d pick September just because there are a few less kids to dodge

I went the third week of September last year, crowds were not bad but it was horribly hot. Worse than July 4 week.

There have historically been more September than August hurricanes, but September crowds are usually lower. Temps don't differ that much-we went this September and barely dodged the Dorian exit, but walked on nearly everything in the 95 plus degree heat!

Crowds will be basically the same those times of the year. Most schools are in session. Just plan for it to be hot and humid, with a chance of a hurricane or tropical storm!!

Thank you all so much! I am definitely not looking forward to the heat -- I originally said no to that time of year because of the heat, but my boys want a birthday trip. Both of those dates are within three weeks of their birthday, so I think we can legitimately call it a birthday trip. We will also be making contingency plans for possible hurricanes, but low crowds will be nice. It sounds like the later dates may have a slight edge, but either one will work. I appreciate the advice and insight!

Mid - September to try to get the heat out of there and make sure all the schools are back. There are still a lot of schools that don't go back until Labor Day so anytime after that will be about as low as crowds go. That being said - buy trip insurance as that is also hurricane season.

Do you like 6 of one or a half dozen of the other better? That's pretty much what it comes down to. Pick what's best for you.

In 2018 it was really hot, standard summer heat. In 2019 we had mid 80's during the day and low 70's at night. Both trips were in Sept., so you never know what you are going to get. We just happened to catch a cool front this past Sept.
August, will just be hot period.

I would pick the August dates of your two, simply because it's a traditionally dead week with people heading back to school. That being said, we went in September this year and it was SO. HOT. and like 90% humidity. Way, way worse than I expected, just prepare yourself. We're normally rope drop to close people and we couldn't hang. Temps will be so similar, do August when it's less busy.
