We are so torn. We can not pick our last meal. It will be a Friday night and it is our AK day.

Here is what we are thinking..

Boma (like the look and would like to check out the AKL but unsure of the food)

Boatwrights(at our hotel so would be easy but is it worth using a meal on?)

Chek Mickeys (only for ds but we are doing other character places already..CP, LTT and 1900 PF)

Planet Hollywood (we know we would like the food a lot as it is our taste but will will have a newborn with us small infant with us and fighting PH on a Friday night does not seem too amusing)

Spoodles (looks cool but from the food pics I have seen it does not look like our taste at all)

Grand Floridian Cafe (have heard good things about it but again not sure if the food is our taste)

ESPN (food is us but again taking a baby there on a Friday night PLUS I hate you can't make and adr there)

So what would you choose of those options??

We really are picky eaters! We do not like a lot of veggies or strange sauces, etc. We like good meats but not with so much extra stuff on it and we like normal potato's and such..lol Just very normal food but a good variety. I really want to try Boma but I am wondering would we get there and not find anything we want to eat??? I am a huge desert person too but again they need to be normal kinda deserts.. ;)

HELP! :confused3

Hello! I dont have any experience with any of the restrauntants you've listed except Boma. I heard rave views of Boma. So we tried Boma in May 2006 and we did not like it. I like alot of foods and like to try new things. Well most of the food there is spicey hot--i like flavors not the hot stuff. Even the cold salads were hot. Very nice decor. We did have res.- had to wait 15 min. in the check in line--waited 40 more min for seating. I found it to be pretty loud. It was buffet and seemed to flow well--but are party of 10 did not care for it. We did like the prime rib, corn, different breads and the desserts. This is just an opinion. Good Luck!

My family thought Boma's was over-rated. I really liked it but my wife and daughter would not go back. The said the food was too "funky"

I loved Planet Hollywood and we just walked right in no ADR or anything. Just walked up waited a few minutes and went in. If loud music bothers the baby might not but I dont think it was that loud b/c we talked the whole time.

I will not take my family to Boma again. It was "ok". We ate there for the 1st time in May. Out of our 9 day stay, Boma had the fewest choices for my DS8 (also a very picky eater). He had no problem finding some food he liked at Chef Mickey's, so that's how I voted.

I'm relatively picky... not extremely picky, but not very adventurous beyond the basic American, Italian, Tex-Mex, Thai, Chinese, Japanese. I didn't really enjoy Boma. It was ok... not a *bad* experience... there just wasn't anything I found particularly interesting or appealing.

Can I make a suggestion that's not on your list? Have you considered Wolfgang Puck's Cafe at DD West Side? It's pretty close to Planet Hollywood.

Their food isn't terribly fancy, not a lot of extra sauces and stuff. Where there are sauces, you can always ask to have them left off. They have a wonderful meatloaf, steaks, pizzas, pasta etc.

The only way I would recommend Boma for your family is if you wanted to stretch your tastes a little bit and try something new. It sounds like you want a more comfortable meal for your last night. Boma's serves the usual beef, chicken, fish, potatoes, but with seasonings you've probably not had before. I wouldn't call it spicy so much as savory. In your case, I'd hate to see you spend all that money and end up eating off the kids buffet. :teeth:

Enjoy your trip! :wave2:

Hmmm...we really like Boma. I am a very picky eater and even though they did have some really weird foods they had plenty of "normal" food. I loved the banana bread :thumbsup2

Hey quick question, is that pinkish-reddish juice some kind of OJ? I couldn't figure it out but LOVED it

I voted for the Grand Floridian Cafe. When DD was younger she was a picky eater and had a hard time finding something other than chicken fingers/mac-n-cheese to eat at Boma (She was around 15 at that time, her DBF of two years has expanded her culinary horizons considerably since then and at 18 she now enjoys Boma.) She really liked GFC. GFC is very pretty, has standard American fare on the menu and offers a very nice dessert sampler. My kids loved Chef Mickey's when they were younger but the adults in your party may OD on character meals with that many scheduled. I know I would.

I would vote for Grand Floridian Cafe. We are basic meat and potatoes kind of people and did not care for Boma at all. There were a few kind of good things, but not worth another trip.

Of the ones you've listed I'd try Grand Floridian Cafe. They're food is certainly more basic American type things. We think prepared nicely. I guess then the other option might be Boatwrights. Chef Mickey would also be another option of "basic" foods. Depends if you want to do another character meal as you said.

We've tried all 3, although we've only had breakfast at Boatwrights. The only one you mention that we have not tried is Planet Hollywood.

Boma is our favorite. While my DH and I like to try new and different food, nothing at Boma is out of the ordinary...it just has different flavoring. There's even a pod with spaghetti and chicken fingers.

That said, I know that even with it's not-out-of-the-ordinary food, the flavoring of it doesn't appeal to everyone. I'm always of the though to try everything once, but if you know your tastes...I would go with something a little more "safe."

If you are picky I would stay away from
Boma
Spoodles

For picky eaters ESPN and Planet Hollywood are good options, but on a Friday night not worth the trouble IMO.

I've never been to Boatwrights, but I have heard good things.

Chef Mickey's and GFC are good options. Since you already have a couple character dinners planned I would go with GFC.

Boma is great for kids! They have pasta, chicken fingers, fries, pb and jelly for the picky eater. A while back my younger DD was not feeling well and only wanted a pb sandwich. One of the chefs GLADLY made her one and made the plate up special for her. It saved the night and was a highlight of the trip. When all is well, both of my daughters eat their weight in whatever the carved meat of the night is and they usually have some great cookies.

HI-- if you are a picky eater, I don't think I would do Boma either. I am not overly picky and I thought the food was exotic (not in a bad way-- but might be if you were picky). I agree with the previous poster about Wolfgang Puck Express.. but I thought you might be trying to use a table service credit?

We really love Chef Mickeys. We have two kids (they were 1 and 3 and 2 and 4) on our trips and it was their favorite! If you do decide Chef Mickeys-- I highly recommend with little ones to get a very early seating. I have noticed on these boards that the main problem people have with Chef Mickey's is the mess the buffet can become with all the food and kids. We went at 5 on our last trip and were literally one of the first tables seated-- it was wonderful! We saw six characters (a few doubled) and Donald and we had a great dinner.

I also wanted to tell you-- we stayed at POR and ate breakfast at Boatwrights. It was good food, but the atmostphere was a little boring. I don't think I would go back and use it as a TS credit. Then again, with two little ones.. you could always make a ressie there and another place and cancel that morning, depending on how your kids are holding up.

Another idea might be the Whispering Canyon Cafe? They have wholesome American food too. A lot of people love that place on the boards.

Have a great trip and good luck with your baby!

My family loves Boma and my DS is a picky eater. There is always the staples fries, noodles, and chicken fingers. That said i'd do ESPN the food is inexpensive and if they don't eat you won't fell like you wasted a lot of money. Boma is a great experience and you may find thing they will try and like but you never know. :thumbsup2
