Which WDW "Value" resort for solo guest

We stayed at CBR this summer for three weeks and had a great time (DH, two DSs and me). For my 40th birthday, DH said he is happy to look after the kids while I go away for a few days anywhere (almost!) I like. Guess where I want to go! He is not particularly bothered about going back to Florida for a while but is happy to save money for a future big trip on another occasion and for me to go by myself for a week this time (February 2005).

I want to stay in one of the value resorts and at the moment have my eye on All Stars Movies. Perhaps I should do a poll! Any comments welcome.

Also, any tips welcome on visiting the parks as a solo visitor are most welcome.

Well, I would choose Pop Century. In my opinion, it's the most "adult-friendly" of the values. The food court is nice and is broken up into more "intimate" sections so you don't feel like you're in a huge cafeteria. There's an indoor lounge for adult drinks (none of the All Stars boast one of these!).

Also, the memorabilia around the resort from the different decades is really fun to look at!

I have stayed at just about all of the Values solo. You should be fine no matter which one you choose. Personally I like All Star Music, but it may be just the theming. (My final decision is always based on which one I can get a discount on!)

Choosing the resort really is by far the most difficult decision to make! Whichever one I end up choosing I am sure I will love it.

i would vote for pop century! we really enjoyed our stay there... although i was with my family, i did spend a little bit of solo time, and felt very comfortable having a coffee and dessert (twinkie tiramisu!) in the food court by myself... sitting at the pool by myself... etc...

it's a great resort, nice and compact, well laid out, good bus service and newer rooms w/bigger tvs! LOL!

I have never stayed at any of the AllStars Resorts, but we stayed at the POP in January and probably will again when we go back in May. We went with our daughter and DH parents. They enjoyed the lake and being able to walk around and not have lots of distractions. The pools were busy some, but never full and there are a few pools with chair areas where you can kindof be alone. We stayed in the 60's building...right infront of the kiddie pool, but it was pretty quiet. It was close to the front and the lake too. We liked the food court and there is a outdoor bar..I think its called Petals where we saw lots of adults hanging out later in the evening. I dont think you will be disappointed.

However, if you get a deal on a moderate, we stayed at the POFQ for our honeymoon in 1997 and LOVED it. Seemed to not be as many little ones everywhere

and I stayed at the All Star Movies. Really enjoyed it, loved the theme, stayed in the Dalmatian section. I noticed it had a pool bar but not an inside one as another poster mentioned already. It was so darn cute we split a stay not long after that with CBR because I knew my DS would love the Toy Story area. Personally I find the rooms too small for our family (although I know it doesn't bother lots of people), but for a solo trip it's just fine.

I haven't stayed at POP although I did go over to check it out. Loved the Lady & Tramp area (gee, wonder why). It would probably be ok too. The only thing I wondered about at POP was traffic noise - there's a large road nearby, Osceola Parkway maybe? I'm sure people that have stayed there could comment on that.

Yes it is Osceola Parkway that runs right up against the Pop Century area. But also note that Rte 192 runs right up against All Star Movies. I never paid any attention to traffic noise and generally am not bothered by it.

All of the resorts are nice, it depends on what decor you are in the mood for (and as was mentioned, what discounts are still available).

Pop - I have also stayed at Jazz - but I preferred Pop.

of course you also need to be old enough to understand some of the stuff.

if you are in your 20's or younger you might preferred the All stars.

I love the lake, bar at pool, lounge, food court, gift shop and all the cute Icons at Pop Century. but then I was born in the 50's and I can understand the whole resort.

now when they finally open the rest of the resort - I might need to do some research.....

I've stayed at ASMo's twice and never heard traffic noise, hopefully Pop is the same

the only noise complaint I have heard is in the 60's building because of the main pool.

I would go with the Pop ask for a lake view in the 50's or if you want the preferred 60's building.

I was born in 1965 and love 1960s music (despite being too young to remember it). Sounds like Pop Century might actually be very nice.

Are there actually often special offers to upgrade cheaply or is that a stupid question?! We were at CBR this year and LOVED it. But staying there again for a week compared to P.C. or All Stars would bump the price up quite a bit. It would make more sense to try a different resort anyway just to try different places. If I ended up staying at another "moderate" resort, might be nice, it's just that I am trying to keep the cost down as much as possible while still staying on Disney property.
