Okay, looking at purchasing some noise reduction software. I was checking out Noise Ninja and it has several different download options and I don't know which one I need.

I am mostly going to be taking pics of my family, vacations and any other interesting thing I see. I am just starting to learn about photography and just want something to clean up any pics.

Thanks for the help!

IF you use photoshop you want the plug in version, that way you do not need to open a seperate program>open the image>save the image>open the image with photoshop to process it.

IF you do not use photoshop, you would need the standalone version cuz the plug in REQUIRES photoshop to use it.

Hmmmm, I did not know about the plugin for PS. I have been doing exactly that. Convert from raw to jpeg with adobe bride and raw converter. Then running NN then going into PS for crops and anything else....

I think, but would have to check, that one of the options of the more expensive versions is being able to do batches of photos. I like how well NN works. I have never tried to remove noise manualy. I have aLways downloaded the camera profiles and/or allowed "profile from image" during noise removal.

I have removed noise from one photo to 200 photos with batch. Often letting it run while I go to sleep..

Have you tried removing noise during the RAW conversion?
ACR does a decent job IMO, but it is not AUTO like NN does it.

Well, I just have Photoshop Elements. Can I still buy the plug in version? If so, I just open the pic in photoshop and then run NN? I am still new to all of this stuff, so bear with me.

Thanks

I would double check the picturecode website to see if it is compatible with your version of Elements, but yes if it is compatible you just use the filters drop down menu and run Noise Ninja right inside of Elements.

Okay, call me dense, but what is the picturecode website?

Picturecode.com would be where you download Noise Ninja.
