Hi Everyone
For those of you who have stayed at a value resort, which one does everyone prefer and why.
We're thinking of staying at one for an upcoming trip to WDW.
Thanks

We've stayed at Movies, Music and POP and I preferred POP. It's newer, cleaner and the decor in the rooms is less "loud". I also liked the fact that you can take a stroll along the water at night (just bring some OFF!).

We LOVED the POP. The best thing about it was the theming of the resort. It was really cool to walk around the resort (which was a beautiful walk by the lake) and look at all the decades. The even have a sing for each year and somthgin noteable about that year. I have never stayed at the others so I cannot comment but we really liked the POP and would probably stay there again instead of trying another one.
BTW it was me 36, my DH 37 and DD# and DD6.
Good luck!

My choice at a value is always All Star Movies :) . It's the newest, besides POP, and the theming there is the most "Disney" option. I've heard that All Star Music tends to draw a lot of couples without children, as it's theme is less appealing to little ones than sports or movies.

The DIS reports on POP are usually pretty good, but I really find the theming strange. The "Slang" words from each decade that adorn the roofs of the buildings make me cringe, they're so corny. :rolleyes2

For the AS lovers: Isn't sharing a bus a pain? Is it ever possible to get a seat on one of those busses if you're not staying at Sports? I hope to eventually do a spring or winter break trip with my friends, and being college kids we'd have to stay at the values. Is the bus service better at the All Stars or Pop?

I would also prefer POP. We have stayed at POP twice now and are planning a third trip to POP and the World. We loved POP! We also liked having a view of Wishes fireworks and Illuminations together at the same time. We stayed at the 50s section, Building 2, 4th floor, Room 4221 or 2441. (I can't remember.) We also liked the short and convient walk to Everything POP and the gift shop, and Fast Foward Arcade. At Everything POP, they have a wide variety of foods. I loved the Chicken Parmensen and Tye-Dyed Cheesecake!! YUM! The Bowling Pin pool was very quiet and warm. I think they heat it to 82-86 degrees. The rooms were plenty big for my family and I. (Rooms are 260 square feet, with two double beds or one king bed, a table and two chairs, vanity area and sink with separate bathroom, 27-inch color television, in-room wall safe, telephones with voice mail and data port. Available on request: non-smoking rooms, rooms accessible to guests with disabilities, hearing-impaired TDD telephones, visual smoke alarms, bed boards and bed rails, refrigerators (extra charge), cribs, iron and ironing board. Room furnishings include custom-designed and themed bed coverings, wall art and wallpaper borders.) That's from Deb's in parenthesis. I hope this helps you on your decision!

I've stayed at All Star Sports and Pop. Personally I liked Pop just a bit better because its newer and just a tad nicer.

Pop! We've stayed at all 3, sports & music just last October. Pop is so much better IMO. I like that the toilets flush like mine at home, not a button at the top (easier for my arthritic hands) and I prefer the actual bottles and bars of soap, not dispensers. It is newer and cleaner, based on my experiences at the other value resorts it really IS cleaner. I like the theming...gotta love that giant Mickey phone and Lady & the Tramp and Baloo, etc...I also prefer the set up of the gift shop and food court. I like the lake, too. I swore I would never stay at another value resort after staying at Movies, but then DH talked me into trying Pop and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there anytime.(14 of my family members are stayng there in Sept) Part of my preference is due to my RA, but not all of it.

We have stayed at both Pop and All Star Movies and we actually preferred ASMo. We thought that the service was just better at ASMo (maybe because it is smaller?). The theming at ASMo actually appealed to us more because it is just so Disney. I love the fancier resorts but if I am going to go value I guess I just like the over the top Disney-ness of the ASMo. The food court was better at ASMo in my opinion. Bus service was about the same at both.

Have stayed at all three all-stars and prefer either music or movies. Movies is great for kids but can get rather crazy in the busy months, but I love the theming! :sunny: Music is a lot quieter, but I stayed there when I was 11 and loved it, heck I was still at Disney World! :earboy2:
Regarding bus service: Since the bus stops at the Sports and Music first, it usually pretty easy to get a seat at either of these two resorts. The only place where I found the one bus for all three resorts a HUGE inconvience was at Downtown Disney-Marketplace in the evening. Crazy amounts of people all squeezing on one bus, pushing and shoving everyone (including my 9-year old cousin! :sad2: ) Other than that the buses didn't seem any worse than most of the other resorts. From what I remember some of the parks actually have seperate buses just for the Movies, but this is going back a few years.

If you have small children then ASMo is absolutely for you!!!! :cheer2: If you have older children they might like Pop, Sports or Music better. If you have mix of ages I would go with Pop as the theming is more broad and encompasses all. You can't go wrong either way - it's Disney! LOL! :flower:

Only stayed at ASMo and Sports, and I have to recommend ASMo :teeth:

I'm going again this December (although I see this as being my last stay at a Value) - it's INCREDIBLY Disney!

I love  the All Star Resorts --they can't be beat. I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy :flower: I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney. :earsgirl: :earsboy:
My last 4 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we take dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic at the All Stars on his first visit. I can hardly wait. :hourglass
When we pull up to check in and I see those huge icons I know I'm at Disney :earboy2:
Linda ::MinnieMo
Only 67 more days

Thanks for all the input!
My kids will be 6 & 9 when we go and ASMo and Pop is what we have it narrowed down to :goodvibes
I appreciate all the responses :)
