I am headed to Orlando for work at the beginning of March and we are looking at having DH, DS9 and DS8 join me after for a trip to Disney. We are thinking of staying onsite, which we have no experience with. If you were going to stay in on e of the Disney value resorts, which resort would you choose and why? TYIA :confused3

We've stayed at All Star Movies and Pop, much preferred Pop.

Over-the-top themeing, and the Buses were better at Pop. All Star buses are shared between the 3 of them (at least were when we stayed there, I'm assuming it's still the same), so depending on which All Star you stay at, you might have a couple stops before you get "home".

we stayed at all the value resorts and love the All star movies the best i found pop centruy to be over crowed all the time but if they are in to sports than i would suggest All stars sports

The questions is really when in march... 2 different cheerleading competitions will be staying at All Star resorts between March 8-20. If it is during that time I would opt for Pop (renovated in 2010) and otherwise my only other option would be Movies (renovated 2011).

We have stayed at Pop several times and really liked it. We were going to try ASMo this time around, but the cheerleaders are keeping us away.

OMG! Really?

We've only stayed at POP and love it! This time we leave for a 4nt cruise on the 9th, so we opted for ASMo because it was a bit cheaper...

Looks like we'll have one night with the cheerleaders...gimme a ....

We've stayed at POP 3 times and AS Music once. Easily prefer POP for us ... others may feel differently.

We spend one trip at an Allstar that was overrun by cheerleaders. Never again. That may be one of the reasons why POP is soooo popular: not as many manic teenagers running rampant. But with the cramped rooms and food courts, and lack of amenities (no coffee pot or fridge), we never recommend the values to our family or friends.

Personally, if you can find it in the budget somewhere, or if you can find a decent discount, or even if you have to shorten your stay by one day, I'd recommend upgrading to any of the mods.

Never been to Pop but we have been to AS Movies and talked to others at Music and Sports.
Generally, we really liked Movies, but Music will allow 5/room if you're part of a larger family like ours. (We did movies but got connecting rooms)
What I heard about Music is that it's not quite as good, and Sports has a lot of sports teams there and it gets quite noisy and lots of running around/disruption. This is what I heard, but never actually witnessed.
Hope that helps.

Thank you so much to everyone that has replied so far!!

Our trip would be beginning March 1 to March 7.

If we are able to upgrade to a mod resort, which mod resort would you recommend? I will have to look at the price difference and decide.

Another vote for Pop I always stay there now. It's like coming home :) As for the Mod resort CBR was really nice just too spread out. The bus system wa awful we had to wait forever to get anywhere. I've been to CSR and it was ok atleast there's is just a loop and our room was near the main bldg so we didn't have to wait too long just not wild about the theme. I wanna stay at POFQ next time ina Princess room.

Our favourite value is POP. We tried to stay at ASMo last yr before the reno and we left within an hr of checking in and upgraded to CSR.
CSR is our favourite resort so far. We will see if that changes this Jan when we get to stay at BLT!!!!
CSR is much bigger than POFQ, but the rooms felt so luxurious and the food court was amazing!

We've never stayed at a value, that being said I have many friends that have and most stay at Pop Century , I always hear excellent things about it. As for moderate I recommend either POR or POFQ, we stayed POR lays yr and loved the location, handy to get to DTD and bussing was great. My only complaint was the rooms seemed a little tired but now they are being renovated if not already done. I like tripadvisor and read a lot of its reviews. POFQ has amazing reviews and is completely renovated now so I would prob stay there as a moderate choice.

LuvDisney3:

My recommendation is that you stay at the POP this time
. There is no real need to incur the extra costs of a moderate (we only do this when we have 5 in a group). But if you did want one, just like many of the Folks above have suggested, I would go with POR (Port Orleans Riverside).

Another vote for POP.

As we've only stayed in a MOD once, I'll cast my vote for POR. Much quieter, nice grounds, boat ride to DTD...

Never stayed at POP, but might in the future!

Never had any issues at the All Stars, been 2 times going again in end of Jan for the final one!

If you need a fridge or coffee maker at either POP or All Stars there are swaps on the boards that help.

We have stayed at Pop and CSR (in comparing Value to Mod). We enjoyed Pop and if your plan is to spend most of your time at the parks/DTD etc then this is the place to stay. Pros and Cons with any place but for our family (our son at the time was 9 and 11 while we were at Pop) it was great.

Don't forget to price out the Swan or Dolphin when you do your calculations. Friends of ours got a terrific deal there last summer, a serious discount from what turned out to be a horrific Downtown Disney Hotel under construction.

You still get Disney Transportation, and are within walking distance of HS and Epcot.

All Star Movies, hands down. We are DVC members, but when we don't ahve enough points to "stay home", we'll just spend the cash for a value. We've tried POP, Sports and Movies. The two All-Stars were pretty much the same except for the theming ( we preferred movies ). We didn't like Pop Century at all.

If it was just a couple of months later, I would recommend trying out the new Art of Animation resort!

We have stayed at Pop and ASMo and I would go with Pop, hands down. The location is much more central, the buses are great, and the food court is one of the best at WDW. The theming is pretty cool as well.

In the moderate category, by have stayed at CBR and POFQ. CBR was beautiful but way too spread out and the bus system was terrible. We have been at POFQ twice and it is a great little resort. It is much smaller and the buses are pretty good. They do sometimes share with POR but in two trip that has only happened two times. The rooms have also been recently renovated.
