Really considering a short solo trip for September and want to stay on site (this would be my 1st onsite stay ). Which value resort would you recommend and why?

TIA for your suggestions :thumbsup2

I've stayed solo at Pop and at AsMu. I much preferred Music over Pop. It's a smaller resort, so I was more comfortable walking around after dark. It was also quieter, without being desserted. Pop is just chaotic, IMO. And, if it matters, AsMu has more landscaping, giving it less of a concrete jungle feel. I had NO issues with the All Stars sharing busses, which I know is a common complain. Bus service was excellent. It was also good at Pop.

I've stayed at all the values over the years - some solo and others adult-only trips, and my favorite is Music. I agree with all that monarchsfan16 said! I usually put in a request for Jazz or Broadway sections, and request an upper floor.

I've only stayed at Pop and I really enjoyed it. I was there in Sept '09 and I never thought it was chaotic. I think a lot of that depends on what time of year you go and what type of traveler you are. I was usually up and at the parks by rope drop and then didn't get back to the room until 6 or 7 pm, so I think I missed most of the 'crowd' (what there was of one).

I say pick the one that looks the most interesting to you...if you don't like it you don't ever have to go back. :)

I myself have never gone solo...and will definitely keep this thread open!! I am curious as to what your favorite place is to stay as well.

I'm staying at pop for my first solo trip in 2 weeks. I picked pop because this will be my 4th time there and im completely comfortable staying there alone. Pick the resort where you like the themeing best and enjoy! but i will let you know how pop is solo in 3 weeks when i get back =-D

I believe ASM is the best value resort for adults without children.
1) the Theming - while still over the top - is less popular than the other value resorts for families and is a little more adult orientated.
2) the way the resort is laid out the back half of the resort is fairly quiet - country fair, Broadway and jazz are rated by some publications as the quietest rooms in DW.
3) the piano pool (ASM's quiet pool) is awesome.
4) forget the name of it but I really enjoyed the poolside bar at ASM.
I have stayed there 4 times and always enjoyed it.

I've stayed at all the value resorts and my recommendation would be for the All Star Sports. Although it shares it's buses at times with the Music & Movies, it always picks up & drops off at the Sports first.

I stayed at the Sports my last trip (there are pictures of the resort & the room I stayed in in the link below) and enjoyed it. I asked for a room in the Touchdown area facing the football field (I believe I took a picture of the room number). This was a great room, as it was close to the food court, buses & main pool. It is also close to the quiet pool over in the baseball area.

Music is nice, but spread out length wise, so if you in country or rock, it may be a bit of a hike, especially after a long day at the parks. It is a slightly quieter resort.

Movies is also nice, but it is the last stop for the buses.

I stayed at Pop Century once and won't go back. Had bad experiences with the front desk, foodcourt (food was awful), and mousekeeping.

see, now I hated staying in the touchdown section becasue it was very noisy. the "football" field just BEGS for dads and kids to play ball. or teens. or anyone, until the wee hours of the morning.

however, the surfs up pool at sports is very big and pretty!

Music is more adult oriented, and therfore I think, less kids.

don't forget, you can use the pools, food courts, bus stops, of all 3 all stars if you stay at one. I believe Music is in the middle anyway. (when we were in the Mighty ducks at Movies, we were right by the quiet pool. but it was shorter for us to walk to Music for the bus stop , bar, and food court) yea, you do have to walk through a parking lot, not so pretty.

leaving a park, if our bus isn't there, we sould grab the all star bus for the resort next to us.

I go to Disney World solo a lot. I have stayed in all the values and my favorite is Pop Century. I have had great experiences every time I stay there. Pop Century is the newest value and has already been re-modeled...at least all the rooms I have stayed in have been re-modeled...new carpet smell and everything! No complaints!

I love love love POP!!! I think its the best theme, has its own bus line, and is comparable in all other categories. We will stay there from now own when value is the category :rotfl: (personally i would pick Poly, but thats not exactly "value")

Actually.... All-Stars Music is the ONLY value resort that has FAMILY suites.... so to claim that it is more "adult-oriented" and basing your choice on this would be a HUGE mistake, IMO.

If I had known that...I would have stay in AsMusic instead of Pop Century :(

Okay, I have stayed at ASMU and at POP as far as values go. Here is my "subjective" opinion.

Positives:
1. Pop has its own bus system.
2. Pop has 3 pools, ASMU has 2 (but can use the pools at the other All Stars)
3. Both properties have been refurbished within the last 3 years.

Negatives (for me at least):
1. While Pop has its own bus system, I have had my LOOOOOONNNNNGGGGGEEEEESSSST WAITS for a bus at Pop.
2. If you are in the 90's section of Pop, its a loooooooonnnnnnngggggg walk to the front to catch a bus you might have to wait more than 20 minutes for (actually, most of the time my waits were more than 20 minutes)
3. In May, it can be HOT HOT HOT waiting 30 plus minutes for a bus. I have never waited more than 10 minutes at any place on Disney property EXCEPT AT Pop and POR. Go figure.

If I was choosing the resort and not going along with my group's choice, I would stay value at ASMU, mod at POFQ, deluxe at AKL or AKV unless I needed to be close to the parks then I would choose BWI/BWV
