We have a trip planned for December staying at the POR with dh's parents.

Well, they have had a few problems lately and will not be able to afford the trip. So, we were going to take them and pay for them, but we can only afford a Value since this boosts our number to 8 from 6.

We are thinking of getting 2 Value rooms, but have not stayed at any of them. Any recommendations?

TIA

Pic which theme you like. We choose movies as that interested us most. This year we choose POP as it is geared to decades and is something different. The way we look at it is, we plan on spending very little time there just to sleep and a quick dip in the pool. Maybe the odd breakfast. We plan on being in the parks most of it. We only stay onsite for the extra perks like EMH and haing stuff shipped back to your hotel. Also for the whole disney expearance. If your looking for a quietier falue try ASMusic. It seemes to be more quiet than the rest. If you looking as bus ease POP doesnt share busses with other resorts. Depends on what you want. Good luck and have fun.

We've stayed at both Pop Century and All Star Music. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Pop IMO is better suited to keep youg ones occupied but the All Star's also have kid themes in them too. It all comes down to taste/preference. Do you like movies? Then AS Movies, Music Fan? AS Music etc. Of the 4 value resorts, I'd agree with Thumper and say that AS Music is the more 'adult' one and therefore quieter Either way there is nothing at all wrong with the Value Resorts. Some people talk down about them but I think they are a great deal for the money. Clean, lively, smaller but I wouldn't say tiny rooms. To me they are your typical size Days Inn room. Price, can't beat it. And as I tell everyone.. go to Niagara Falls, pays $150.00 a room, might have 2 pools, might not. Might have a restaurant, might not., definately won't drive you all over the place for free. No matter which one you pick, you will like it!

I've stayed in all of them. I would book POP only because of its location. More central to most other WDW locations. Close to the BW area by car. Plus, the DD bus from the other Values can be quite a hike.

If you don't mind the distance I like to stay in the Mighty Ducks section of ASMo. It's so close to ASMu that you can use their buses and their food court if you wish. So choices. Getting off a shared All Star bus early is nice. Also, ASMo often has their own buses. So best of both worlds. Choices.

Plus, there is a quiet pool right there in the Mighty Ducks section of ASMo.

Have a great time,

Lisa

POP! DD gets a kick at going around and saying........Mom, didn't you use to have one of these!?!:lmao: :lmao:

It's a fun resort! And DD loves the Arcade there. The food court is great too!

Personally I much prefer POP hands down. The food court is better, I like the location better and most of all......it doesn't share buses like the AllStars do.

I have stayed at all levels of resorts and would have to say POP has the best bus service of any resort I have ever stayed at.

POP CENTURY!!!! on my last trip we stayed at POP and at ASM, and I much prefered POP. It looked a lot nicer in my opinion. The Food Court was great and the Everything POP store was very nice. As well, the busing was great as it did not share with any resort. POP POP POP POP POP... lol but pick one that appeals to you and I'm sure you'll have a blast. Keep POPin' lol

Another vote for Pop Century. It's much newer than the All Stars. The buses are supposed to be better because they don't share like the All Stars. I have not stayed at All Stars, but this was our reasoning for choosing 2 connecting rooms at PopCentury on our Sep06 Free Dining Trip. :woohoo: I think I read the rooms are a little bigger too? Something about how the beds are arranged.

Kids were ALL over the place when we went, including completely unsupervised in the Food Court, but I imagine situation is similar at All Stars. Perhaps Free Dining Plan contributed to that too. Food Court is better & there's some dancing by the CMs for small entertainment -- we never managed to catch it, but is in morning & dinner-time. Refillable mugs could get slushies here too.

Good luck choosing.

POP definitely - make sure you ask for 60's building (pretty sure) it's the one beside the lake, pretty & quiet, and right near the Lady & the Tramp pool. Also request adjoining rooms, which we found wonderful when there were seven of us.

Quick note about "adjoining" and "connecting" rooms. We had booked two "adjoining" rooms at All Star Sports. When we arrived the rooms were side by side but did not have a door from one to the other. When we called down we said that we had requested "adjoining" rooms. They said that is what we gave you. Anyways, I guess it was an American/Canadian communication error because adjoining to them means side by side and connecting means a door from one room to the other.:confused3

We also love the Pop! We stayed in the all star sports before the Pop was built and my DS loved the football field and all the sports themes, but once we stayed at Pop we liked it better, it's a more fun place it has 3 pools if you get in them in Dec. I think your in-laws would like the Pop better because they could relate to the things from the different years and they could stroll along the lake if they wanted and yet there's plenty of disney icons as well for the young ones. The main section is the 60's with the hippy dippy pool close to the food court and bus stops. We also stayed in the 50's section with the bowling pin pool, and they play 50's music by the pool. Have fun chosing! Linda

I just got back from ASMo. I really liked it but don't think I would stay there again for the following reasons:
1) With the exception of MK you have to share buses with the other 2 All Star resorts and it makes for VERY long commutes between destinations.
2) Although there was a fair selection at the food court there was not much that appealed to us. Also, the food court was extremely busy.

I think that if you are going to stay at a value resort you should try for POP or if you chose an All Star pick music. Music is in the middle and you would only have one extra bus stop. As for dinning try to eat at other resorts of make ressies.

one exta plus to staying at pop is that it is usualy the first stop for the magic express bus
