Hi all,

We are planning a family trip to disney and my adult brother has CP and is in an electric wheelchair full time. He would require a washroom with hand rails and a roll in shower........do these exist at disney?? I am hoping to plan a trip at a Value resort so that me, dh and our 2 boys will be in one room and my dad and brother will be in the room next to us. Please let me know what you know........thanks!! :hippie:

All of the resorts have some rooms that are fully wheelchair accessible, with roll in showers. We have not stayed at any of the value resorts, so I can't help you personally. But, there are DIS posters who have and will be able to help out.
Since the value resorts were some of the last built, they also tend to have some of the best accessibility. Some of the older resorts were built to different standards that have been improved on in the newer resorts.

We've stayed at both the All Star properties and Pop Century with needing a roll in shower and both have been just fine. You should be able to request connecting rooms for your two parties- one with a king bed and roll in shower for the party of two and the other with two doubles for your family. As the w/c accessible rooms are scattered throughout the resort you may want to consider paying for a preferred view if you want to be closer to the food court and bus stop. There are also elevators and fully accessible rooms on each floor, so you might want to request first floor if available to make things a little easier. ---Kathy
