I just looked over our ADR's for our August trip and realized we had 3 Italian places on there! We have Tony's, Alfredo's and Mama Melrose. Which of these would you keep (more than one?) and which to get rid of? BTW, we have never ate at any of these before. Thanks!

I voted for Mama Melrose's. Last time we were there we were very happy with our food and the service was great. On the other hand we did not enjoy Alfredo's at all. We really did not enjoy the food ( Fett Alfredo) or the atmosphere... we really didn't enjoy anything and unfortunatly I don't have anything positive to say about it although I really did try to think of something.

I voted for Alfredo's. I like MM too, but it's not really authentic Italian the way Alfredo's is, imho. Whatever you do, I would cancel Tony's. We have eaten there twice and it was not good both times. The Olive Garden is better. THe pictures from Lady and the Tramp are cute, but that's about it.

Have fun! :)

We really have the same question as you. We haven't eaten at Tony's or Alfredo's but we have eaten at Mama's and it was HORRIBLE. The service was the worst we've ever had anywhere. Our waitress never brought us bread and never returned to fill our drinks and the restaurant was EMPTY.

The food was bad too. Uggh, the steak my DH had was burned to a crisp and he ordered medium! I ordered the eggplant and there were three little bitty shrivled pieces of eggplant and thats it. It was horrible and we will NEVER be back.

That being said we do have an ADR for Tony's in September. I've read mixed reviews about both Tony's and Alfredo but I'm willing to give them a chance and see.

I went with Alfredo's. Unlike others, I don't think any of these places are horrible but none are great either. Living in northern jersey, I know a lot of italian places better than these, including my grandmother's house. But they're all OK. Alfredo's is a little more than OK.

Palio is at the Swan resort, on the Epcot resort loop. However, it will be closed from August 15 to sometime in Jan. I had a reservation there and they called to cancel. They said they were doing a big refurbishment.

I haven't tried any of the others, but I do have a res. for Mama's in August.

I can't really vote because I like both Alfredo's and Tony's. On our upcoming trip, we are only eating at Alfredo's, since we only want to eat at one Italian place. But I highly recommend both of them.

We visit Mama Melrose's during every trip and have never had a bad experience even during Easter week when park attendance is very, very high. The food is excellent and like I always say, if you are going to an Italian restaurant, order Italian. The only complaints I have heard about Mama's are from those people who ordered something that is not Italian fare such as steak, etc.

We have eaten at Alfredo's and Mama Melrose.

(I should preface my comments by saying I am an Italian food snob. I am Italian from a family of great cooks, so I'm a pretty tough judge of Italian food. I prefer not to eat at Italian chain restaurants, etc.)

Our first Alfredo's experience was awesome - we loved it and couldn't wait to
eat there on our next visit. We did - and were disappointed. So we are staying away for a bit. The food didn't have the fantastic taste it did the first time around.

MM we really enjoyed last June as part of the Fantasmic Dinner Package. We thought we got A LOT of food and the atmosphere was fun.

Never been to Tony's.

I ordered Italian at Mama's and it was horrible. Maybe we just went on a bad night (Dead) and had a horrible server but its the only experience we've ever had at Disney they went beyond horrible. I can't see giving it a second chance.

I'm really tempted to try Alfredos though along with Tonys. We love Italian!

I didn't vote.....Where's Palio? That would be our choice.

Palio is at the Swan. I thought I heard that was going bye-bye. Anyone else hear this?

We've been to all three (DH is Italian).

Love Mama Melrose. Been twice, 5 adults last October and EVERYONE loved the food. We had exceptional service there both times.

Alfredos was just ok. Tables too jammed in, service ok, portions small and food a bit bland. But this was a few years ago, so it may have improved.

Did Tony's for dinner once and it was fine. Nothing too exciting, but that was also a few years ago.

I'm sorry wasn't clear in my wording....I meant where's Palio in the OP's poll. We have eaten there a couple of times and love it.

I thought I read that Palio is undergoing major renovations and will be closed for about 6 months.

I voted for Tony's. We go there every trip (always for lunch though). We've been to Alfredo's before and thought it was just ok. We went to Mama Melroses last trip. We had ADR's for 7 p.m. We got there at 7:02 and the doors were locked! So we all just looked at each other like, what do we do now?!? :confused3 One of the hostesses came to the door and we explained to her that we had ADR's at 7 and didn't realize they closed at 7 (as nothing was said when we made the ADR's). They sat us and there was only one other table in the whole restaurant. It was very quiet. Our server, Holly, was wonderful and the food was great. The atmosphere kind of reminded me of Pizza Hut for some reason. It was a nice meal but I hated feeling like an inconvenience for coming in right before they closed. Other servers and workers were leaving before we even got our meal.

Yes starting in August they are going to be closed for renovations. We tried to make an ADR for November 25th but the CM said there's no guarantee it'll be open and their system doesn't let them make ADR's for Palio during that time. So we would have to wait until it got closer to see if they're open and either do walk-up or make an ADR when we found out it was open. So we'll just wait until next time to try it out!

Do we know the nature of the rehab? It seems like they're doing more than just touching up. Is it still going be italian? still called "Palio"? Do we know anything about that?

And hey, NeverlandClub23, I'll be there Nov 11-19. How about you?
