Just curious do you call your son the whole thing all the time? Or have you shortened it to just the first name. For example, if he's Jim-Bob, do you just call him Jim? Or Bob? Or JB? Just wondering because I would assume that if I had a child with a hypenated name I'd drop the second one because it would be too long. Thus, my argument for first name Ariel, middle name Grace. No hypens.JadenLayne said:Our son has a hyphenated name so I thought it would be perfect to give our daughter one too.

I truly feel sorry for those children whose parents do this to them![]()
I know that. But I've also known a lot of people who have hated their "trendy" names, too.CPM said:Don't feel sorry for them. My daughter always loved the unique spelling of her name. Not everyone is the same.
I agree!!CheshireVal said:I like Grace.
Personally (and I know everyone's different), I think non-traditional spellings can look..... unclassy, for lack of a better word. I wouldn't want that to be the first impression people have of my children!

Like the names little girls come up with to name their dolls or imaginary babies. When I see a name like "Britnee Shay-lynne" or "Kayleigh BreeAnne", I think the mother must be 16.
I feel badly for these girls when they grow up. Who is going to take you seriously when your name is some random concoction of syllables? I know I don't. These cute little baby girls are going to be grown women trying to get jobs some day.
