Which side of the ship for a 7 day Western Cruise is best?

Would like to know which side of the ship gives you the best views in the various ports for the 7 day Western Cruise. We will be getting a room with verandah and we prefer to be looking at the beach or ocean istead of other ships. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is hard to say because the ship can either pull in straight or back in at different ports. We just got off the Western in early Aug and we had starboard.

In Port Canaveral we looked at the Carnival Pride out our window

In Key West we looked at the water, not the dock

In Cozumel we looked at water, not the dock

In Grand Cayman we anchor off shore so it really does not matter what side of the ship you are on. The view is about equal.

In CC we looked at the dock, not the beach.

I found it didn't really matter. There was always something to look at that was of interest.

Hope this helps a bit.

We just got back from our 7 day western cruise 2 days ago! Our cabin 6108 was on the port side and we really enjoyed the views. At Key West we watched the beautiful sunset from our veranda ( very peaceful and we didn't have to fight the crowds at Mallory Square). Our days and nights at sea we were able to see other islands well. Seeing Cuba was interesting and a good history lesson for our children. At Grand Cayman we anchor off shore so all views are good. At Cozumel our view was blocked by another ship. At CC we faced the dock but we thoroughly enjoyed watching the Magic dock and the cast members very quickly and efficiently set up everything before we got off the ship. We also enjoyed watching the "take-down" at the end of the day and waving goodbye to the cast members who remain on the island( they waved farewell with Mickey gloves!). I'm sure either side is great but we really liked our port side room!:smooth:

I agree about liking either side of the ship. I'm sure there are pros and cons to both! The 3 times we've sailed we've have had port side rooms, and my favorite part is always when the people that stay on the island wave to us with "mickey gloves" as we leave Castaway Cay. (I'm always wishing that I'm the one staying on the island, and I'm so jealous of them!) Enjoy either side! :p
