Which ship and why?

So looking at going on my first cruise ever... it will be myself, sister and mother: all adults. We are looking at April and there is a cruise on the Dream and one on the Wonder which fit our vacation dates... they both make the same stops, both are four nights. Preferences and why? Room preferences? Looking at Verandah to give us more space being three adults. Thanks for any and all advice!

Bottom Line: you can't go wrong with either ship. I've cruised multiple times on all except for the Dream (only once).

If you go on the Wonder you will have a lot fewer first time ever cruisers, and not wanting to be rude, but the first timers usually come in with the "I've got to do everything because I won't ever be returning" mentality, that for me, makes the Dream way to crazy & hectic with lots of people that "don't know the drill".

So being that you are 3 adults, the Wonder should be MUCH calmer. And I like calm. But DO NOT mistake "calm" with "boring, nothing to do" because the opposite is very true. There are a lot of things to do on all of the ships. Very enjoyable.

Another reason for the Wonder with 3 adults (assuming 1 stateroom) is that the rooms are enough larger on the Classic Ships vs the New Ships that it Does Make A Difference.

I would go for at least an outside room (porthole or verandah) so that you have a room with the split bathroom - it really helps with the getting ready process (for the day or for the evening).

Thank you for that honest opinion. :) My mother is going with us and she is in her 70's and will want relaxing and calm so that sounds good to me. I also like the fact that those rooms are a bit bigger.

Has anyone done a summer cruise? Weather wise, late June-early July best?

The wonder will have completed dry dock so there will be new enhancements. The enhancements on the Dream are well documented and are nice upgrades as well.

Weather in the summer in the Caribbean is hot. Generally you can expect a breeze while the ship is in motion, but that is usually at night. You can expect warm water temperatures. Of course those months are part of official hurricane season, but generally Disney will replan an itinerary if they think it will impact your cruise. So instead of nassau, you may end up in Key West or just floating around.

If you want a summer cruise in the Bahama's/Caribbean it will have to be on the Dream or Fantasy because the Wonder goes to Alaska and the Magic to Europe.

Our first cruise was the 4 day on the Dream in early June. Weather was perfect, but honestly, Summer weather in the Bahamas and Florida is unpredictable. Sometimes you will have perfect weather for two weeks and then have rain every afternoon for what seems like weeks on end. Pick the time that is most convenient to you. Hurricane Season is June 1 - November and the weather is always going to be the luck of the draw.
