I have a rezzie for the AKL Villas from March 2 to March 8---savanna view. Can someone give me a clue as to which savanna I will be viewing or doesn't it make a difference? Can I call to request a particular view and if so, which one?

I will be arriving at the AKL around noon (I arrive from Hartford about 10:30 and take the DME to the villas) so a pretty good room should be available tho I know that it probably won't be ready until about 4 PM.

Thanks.

Just returned from three nights at AKV. We stayed in room 5413, which is a studio in the Zebra Trails section, savannah view. We regulaly saw zebra, long-horned cattle and an occassional giraffe.

This was our first DVC visit to AKV, and we were really impressed with this resort. Great pool, three different dining options, a decent marketplace, and of course unique theming.

On the downside, there was no closet, only a wardrobe. And the room was unusually dark, as if there were only 25 watt bulbs in all of the lighting.

Also, we had the feeling of being "distant" from the buzz of activity and options at Studios/Boardwalk/Epcot/MK/Dowtown Disney. Not a bad feeling, just different from what we normally experience at BWV/BCV/SSR. This could be either a positive or negative, depending upon what you like. Having said this, I could easily see us splitting time at AKV and an "in the action" resort.

You can request view as part of reservation although not guaranteed. Arusha savanna view is of the main savanna that is inside the U of the U shaped AKL/AKV building. Uzima savanna looks away from AKL/AKV from the right side of that U. Either is fine and worth a request. Sunset savanna is one looking away from the left side of that U and I would not request it at this time because it looks at Kidani construction. Thus, to have a better chance of avoiding that one, you should probably put in a request for one of the other two.

We were there first week of Jan and had Arusha view (which we requested) and it was good. As noted above rooms have wardrobe rather than built in closets and closet and drawer space is not that great. Rooms are also dimly lighted as noted; in fact, the entire resort is dimly lighted so rooms are in sync with resort as a whole. The feeling of being "distant" from the buzz of activity is actually more than that and quite a pleasant feel -- the resort is remote and it has the savannas, pool area, and then everything else is heavily wooded. The African theme is amazing. You not only feel distant from the hustle of WDW, you feel like you are not even in Florida particularly when looking out and seeing nothing but woods in the distance and in front of you are couple of giraffes.

We were in 5525 last week.

The view was of the Arusha savannah, and it was STELLAR! Relatively close to the elevators down to the pool/Mara, too.
