If I don't get new bedroom furniture soon, I think I may go mad.

I have never, since childhood, had a matching bedroom set. Our bedroom furniture is circa 1974, and you can tell. The drawers are breaking, the knobs have long since fallen off the dresser. And it's just plain butt ugly.

Which room in your house desperately needs a trip to the furniture store?

Living room! The couch and chair are about 12 years old. Worn, tattered, pilled...

You name a room and it could use furniture! Living room and we just bought it 3 years ago! Junk!

LR. I loved the furniture when I bought it. Now I hate it. And it has taken a beating over the years from the kids.

I don't have a bedroom "set", but I love what I have. One bureau was my Grandmother's, whom I never met. One bureau, a former neighbor from when we lived in NJ found on the curb being thrown out, and gave it to my dad, who refinished it. They go together pretty well. And our bed, we got at a yard sale for $25, and DH refinished it. I love the mismatched, shabby chic look. ::yes::

All of my room have "new" furniture, or NEW to MY house! Unfortunately the GREAT four poster bed I bought from Rooms to Go BROKE and that's the room that needs NEW furniture...

Now I'm sleeping on the "new" couch my babysittter gave me when she remodeled! :p

Our living room, we nave no furniture & have lived here for 4 years. It is just a playroom now. I would love to get some nice furniture in there & a nice piece to put all the toys & clutter in.

Our bedrooms are all fine, but the living room needs new furniture!

It is around 15 years old? But it actually doesn't look all that bad--it was top dollar stuff!

I just can't justify buying new right now with 3 kids age 5 and under. They will destroy it quickly :)

We need living room furniture. We actually got rid of our old couch not long ago and have been using chairs and a big 2 person recliner ever since.

We are trying to find something decent secondhand or really cheap. While Monty is still a relativly young dog, we don't want to invest in really GOOD furniture...just in case... He does not chew on furniture a lot, but I don't want to risk it, if we can help it.

Our old couch was awful. I'm glad it's gone. It was big, bulky and ready to collapse. It was like a sleeper couch that no one ever used and it was just about the most uncomfortable thing ever.

We're hoping to have some new stuff by the end of Sept. ; just debating whether or not to go new/cheap or second hand for now and then get some really nice new stuff in a year or two.

My parents owned an appliance/furniture store when I was a kid. When I turned 11, my father died of a heart attack. Two months later for my 12th birthday, my mother gave me a bedroom set that was in the window of their store. She said that my father wanted to give it to me for my 12th birthday since I was always admiring it.
Well, I'm 38 now and still have the same bedroom set (in my bedroom). We've changed the mattress a few times but this has gone from my childhood furniture to my adult-married furniture. I've been sleeping in it for 26 years and the sentimentality has worn off. I've been wanting new bedroom furniture for about 8 years now but something else is always more important.
Our kitchen has banquet chairs and a fake wood formica tabletop. It's the ugliest thing I've ever seen. While it should be the first thing to go, the old bedroom really needs a furniture makeover.

we still need a dining room set. yes, we need bedroom furniture too...still have dh's from his childhood. but I'd rather have a dining room set right now.

Well they all could use new stuff...but with cats and kids I'm not getting any for the living room or family room for a long time. I need a new bed, my bedroom furniture, except the bed, was my in-laws original set. It's nice, but really old fashioned looking. 2 youngest need new beds. They have bunk beds and would like to go to individual beds. I need dining room chairs...I bought an old set from someone that was moving and I only have 2 chairs left...the others broke. I would also like a new kitchen set...heck I want a whole new kitchen!

Probably our living room. We've had our sofa since 1998 and with two dogs, it was starting to show wear from their nails...we slipcovered it about a year ago. Our recliner also is starting to show some wear. Our entertainment center is something from Target. I'd like to get a nice armoir eventually, but I'm waiting until we buy a house to determine exactly what will work. We're renting this house until December 2005 so I won't be buying any new furniture until then.

My oldest son really needs some new furniture. He has a futon for a bed that is not very comfortable, and a dresser that was given to me second hand when I was pregnant with him. His tv is on a cheap tv stand that came from Walmart. His computer desk is a like an 2 end tables pushed together. Still, he doesn't care (he's only 7), he's happy with it for now. He has been asking for bunk beds though, so I'm thinking when we move in the next 6 months I'll just chunk everything in his room and buy him a whole new set at our new place.

So, it sounds to me like we should all get together, head to a REALLY big furniture store and ask for a group discount.::yes::

Definitely living room. I bought an inexpensive set (well, sofa, loveseat, 2 end tables) in '96 when I got divorced. Between a young child, a cat and 2 dogs, we tossed that stuff out last year when my neighbor had a sofa and loveseat in good condition at the curb (it's ugly as sin, but it works). Now, my dogs have torn thru that too. They like to jump up on the sofa to bark out the window and the seams are splitting. I've sewed them several times, now I just don't care and I use duct tape.

I'd like to get one of those microfiber sets...they're supposed to be the most durable.

Eventually I'd like my own "big girl" furniture since all my stuff is hand-me-downs from my parents or my BF's parents.

I managed to get a great set of "big girl" patio furniture this year. Yay for me!
