Just booked a standard view room at the Coronado for 3 nights in June with AP code! :cool1: Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should note on my ressie for room request? I know there are different sections at the Coronado. Which is best? :cheer2:

Depends on what your priorities are. The Castias are closest to the convention center and the main building, the Ranchos are close to the pool and farthest from the main building. The Cabanas are a bit of both some of the buildings are closer to the pool, other's are closer to the main building, or if you were like us we were sort of inbetween both and close to a bus stop I might add, which is always a bonus. I think we were in building 8b, from what I can tell from looking at a property map. We had a corner room which was really nice too, as we got an extra window. I think allearsnet.com has property maps on it (correct me if I am wrong) which is worth looking at to try and work out what buildings look the best for you.

Incidently I think each building type (ie Cabanas) has a different look and decor. I loved our Cabana room, the decor was very jazzy.

cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site over the wooden bridge

cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building.

cabana 8b and 9a are inbetween the 2 above.

Cabana rooms are mostly waterview rooms or non parking lot views.

ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

The casitas are close to the gym, spa and have great fountains and courtyards. casita 5 is close to the Dig Site with a good walk to the main building. The lower the casita number the closer towards the main building.

As ReggieB said, the location is really based on what you are looking for. A few years back when we went to CSR, I scoured this board for information on the pros and cons of the different areas. With my then 4 yr old son, walking distance was an issue. So being close to the pool, the main bus stop and to the main building was a priority, the Cabanas and specifically Building 9 was what we wanted, and what we ended up getting. It was exactly what we expected and more. Some people like the feel of the other sections more. I thought they all had their own charm, because they are all so different in theme, much like Mansions vs AB at POR.

There seemed to be more convention people in the Casitas section and a longer walk to main pool than the Ranchos or Cabanas. However, the section is quite beautiful especially at night. The ranchos are beautiful, close to main pool but a distance from main building. Ok, so after all that rambling, my favorite is Cabanas, however you really need to decide what location best suits your needs or tastes.

Also do check out Buzz's site, it helped us a lot when we were looking. (unsolicited plug ;) )

We stayed in the Cabana section and would definitely request it again. :flower:

i definitely would ask for cabana section. We stayed there in the summer and the ranchos were too far back from the main building. the sidewalks there flooded and it got very swampy. Ask building 9 it is close to a qiuet pool laundry and a VERY short walk to the main pool. Try and look into ffod vouchers also. It is a very different type of food court and the big meals seem much cheaper with vouchers. We got killed with food here.

Food Vouchers? I'm not familier with this?

visit the budget board. they have a thread stuck to the top that details the vouchers and how to get them. We used them for the first time last trip. Got a $36.51 meal (ribeye steak, potato, beverage, dessert) for $13.00. We got our vouchers on eBay but you can join certain clubs and get them at the cost of $11+.
