Which Rides go Upside Down?

I think maybe California Screamin goes upside down? What else?

My son likes roller coasters but not going upside down or in the dark (like Space mountain)

The only upside-down ride is Screamin. Disney is definitely not a roller coaster park, so you're good!

For what it's worth, my daughter (9) reports that California Screamin' is very smooth and relatively mild for an upside down coaster. I am not convinced (I am not a coaster fan)... but she is urging me to give it a try.

Space Mountain at DLR is fantastic, though, and I do not like the one at WDW much at all.

Screamin' is very smooth. And unless you know you are going upside down, it is mild and you don't notice. In fact my granddaughter wouldn't believe us that you went upside down. She was 5 and would ride and then say "It DOESN"T go upside down, you guys are joking me."

Try it. A nice loop like that doesn't even feel like you're upside down. It's terrific. Great, smooth coaster. After you get past the launch. ;)

Thanks for the replies. I don't do big rollercoasters myself due to eye issues, but just asked for my son for the head's up. Who knows...maybe this year he'll change his mind and want to try it. (A few years ago he went on a rollercoaster at an amusement park that went upside down but he didn't know beforehand. He was not a happy camper. )

All of them, if you're not properly restrained.

Except, interestingly enough, the ones that actually loop. With the loop, the physics of it push you into your seat, so you don't fall out. So on Screamin', the restraints are for the hills, NOT for the loop. :)

All joking aside, I just read of an incident of a child dying on a ride like Grizzly River . Don't remember what amusement park and the article didn't elaborate on the circumstances, but think we'll be skipping Grizzly River. So scary when you read those kind of stories, not to mention devastating.

I get where you're coming from, but it was a totally different theme park and the ride vehicle was different (not as many seats, easier to tip). You're going to skip Grizzly because of that? You could make a case for skipping every ride in that case. Someone died on Big Thunder many years ago too. There are freak accidents sometimes.

Yup just screamin. My daughter passes out when she's inverted (finding that out at our local amusement park was a real treat...not!) so that's the only one she can't go on.

Completely different ride, completely different park, completely different situation, completely different ride requirements. Totally understand the devastation, but along the same lines, there was a traffic accident on the Grapevine last night. We shouldn't drive to Disneyland.

Ride was in the UK. She and a friend opted to change seats. They were not buckled in and while she was standing, the ride vehicle hit a rock and she fell out of the vehicle.

I think the ride is very safe, but it's one of the few rides where the rider can easily remove their restraint at any time. Maybe that's what happened at the park you read about. This has been on my mind ever since my last trip when we were at the beginning of BTMRR, and the dad in the row in front of us started scolding his kids, "do NOT try to stand up this time, you hear me?!" I was freaked out for the entire ride!
