Which rides can't you ride

Hey I thought I'd throw this question out to all you Disers.

I was thinking this is a pivotal point in time for Disney World and the other parks. The old style rides will not be able to sustain the next generations and it seems with the new competition of Universal, the rides are getting a little more thrilling to compete for that market. The first question I have is this: Do you like this new direction (which in my opinion) is inevitible and my second question is which rides can't you ride.

I personally think Disney has to be very careful they don't go overboard and exclude a lot of their diehard fans. I personally can't ride MS becasuse I have high blood pressure and I don't want to end up in the hospital.

Here is my list of rides I have to pass up :{

1. MS
2. Rock and Roll Roller Coaster. I thought I was going to die on this ride.
3. Body Wars and Star Tours (they make me sick)
4. And probably the new Animal Kingdom coaster coming soon.

I personally feel like the older rides are getting too boring, but if they go in the other direction to the extreme I will not be making my yearly visits any longer. I will have nothing to do.

After last I year - (as much as I love Disney, I got a little bored on Small World, POTC and Haunted Mansion.) I don't think I can wait on lines to see them anymore, but on the other hand, if the rides go too much in the opposite direction, I will not be able to go on those either.

My personal favoriates are:

Soarin. I LOOOVE this ride. I think it is the perfect example of a happy medium.
Dinosaur. Animal Kingdom. Awesome. Another great example of thrill but not overkill.
Mickey's Philarmagic. The best 4d film of its kind.
TOT. I do very will with drops.

What is your opinion on this topic?

Mission Space  :faint:
Tower of Terror - can you say :scared: :scared1:
Astro Orbiter, Tea Cups, Primevil Whirl, Body Wars, Star Tours or any other similation ride - I will most certainly get sick.

I can't ride the tea cups, but I have no problem with mission space...go figure :cool1:

I haven't tried mission space, but I can ride everything except Body Wars, there's just no perspective on it. I loved RNR. My DH got off of it and he broke into a sweat and was nauseous for 2 hours. We went on a cruise last week (after 5 days at WDW) and he's fine on the cruise, but I had to take Dramamine (go figure!) I love the tea cups and star tours. Soarin was the best ride ever. We were at WDW during Jersey Week and the waits for soarin were 60-120 minutes and all the fast passes were gone by 10 am or so. We got in line the first time on Wed (9 Nov) when the sign said 60 minute wait and it took us 45 minutes to get on, and then we went back on Friday (11 Nov) the sign said 90 minutes and we were in line for 1 hour. When we got off the sign said 120 minutes for the rest of the day. It was worth the wait. It was my DH's favorite thing we did the whole week. I also heard one of the two theaters was broken down. But, we'll never go to WDW during Jersey week and F&W festival again, too crowded compared to the week after. I'd say 4 out of 5 people we met were from NJ.

My husband has hurt his neck, and we were making a list of rides that he CAN'T do...Space Mountain, Big Thunder, probably Splash, Dinosaur, Kali, and EE if it should be open, Mission Space, RNR. Really all of the biggies I guess. Pretty dissapointing coming from someone whom in the past rode all of these multiple times.

I'm thinking Splash has the big drop, but no jerks or sudden movements, and TOT is smooth too, but We're not sure. My kids will be dissapointed because we were going to be doing baby swap with 17 month old, so the 13 and 9 yo could have gotten double rides!!

I think Universal has hurt in more than just "thrill rides" Spiderman is totally awesome and not a rollercoaster at all. Puts Disney and Imagineers to shame a little in my opinion.

I can't ride It's a Small World :rotfl2:

One of the first times my wife and I were at MK there was some sort of malfunction and we were stuck in the same place of the ride for around 25 minutes. Every time we walk past the ride I just shiver :goodvibes

when ToT first opened i could ride it (and once rode it 17 times in a row)...but since the reprogramming I can't ride it...

other rides i can't ride:

MS - motion sickness
RnRC - while i can ride coasters with hills and even loops, corkscrew barrel rolls are sure inducers of motion sickness
Body Wars - motion sickness
Star Tours - Motion sickness
Any virtual reality type attractions (like those at DisneyQuest) - motion sickness
dumbo, carousel, aladdin's magic carpets, tea cups, astro orbiters, dinowhirl, tricerotops spin - motion sickness

Dont Laugh....but I can't ride Thunder Railroad...I always think that i am going to hit my head when I enter the tunnels...it just freaks me out!

Yes, I will say that I'm a little worried about the direction I see Disney going in adding more "thrill rides" like RNR and Everest. Although I am happy to see them adding new tamer attractions like Philharmagic and Soarin'. I ride EVERYTHING! I have never been afraid of a ride in my life.

Why do I not want Disney want to go overboard on the thrill rides? Because it's easy to get make a physically thrilling ride...just look at Six Flags. I love to go to Disney with my mom, who is afraid of thrill rides, and I like that anyone can enjoy Disney. For example, she used to be able to do everything at Epcot...now she can't go on TT or MS there. (Ok, we both really miss Horizons!). To make a ride mentally and emotionally thrilling is much harder to do than to just make a ride physically thrilling.

Here are rides my mom doesn't do:
-any of the mountains at MK
-the spinning one at AK
-TT and MS

I don't get motion sickness, but there are a few I can't ride, for silly reasons. Dinosaur, because I am terrifed of dinos. I started watching Jurassic Park too young, and my imagination was huge, so I always wondered if dinos could really come back. So this ride completely freaked me out, since you go back in time, and the dinos are realistic.

I can't ride imagination, the sounds lab ride. I'm also terrified of loud, unexpected noises, so I can't stand this ride.

And It's Tough To Be A Bug I can't do either. But I hate bugs.

I know these are completely random and all. I don't get motion sickness, and I don't mind going on the fast rides like ToT and RnRC. I just can't deal with bugs, dinos, and loud sounds. Weird, I know :confused3

I am way too big of a chicken to ride~

Space Mtn
TOT
RNR

I do okay with simulators, but space mtn always freaks me out (just thinking about it)So dark and riding the walls??? (maybe Im wrong about my info there)

I cant go upside down, and have never even considered TOT as elevators make me nervous. I may have to ride it in June 07 though, as DH knows I went on Dr Doom's Fearfall 2 years ago and liked it. He sees them as being much the same. :rotfl: :earseek:

I can't ride Mr. Toad, Alien Encounter, and Delta Dream Flight anymore, ecuase there not there anymore :guilty:

I'm going to ride Toad at DL in a few weeks. Thank goodness it's still at DL. The only ride I can't do at WDW is Teacups. And I love MS!! I could do that 2x in a row, just not 3. DH could ride it all day long. Bring on all the mountains, especially Everest, and RnR and Tot. (And I'm old!!!)

Mission Space. :earseek:

Any ride where they give out barf bags, I automatically cross off my list.

I don't like the direct Disney has taken over the past couple of years they keep making rides that are rough and for sure cause somekind of injury or discomfurt.

The ones I can't do
Dinosaur (Way to rough)
RNR I don't like Roller Costers
MS Health issue
SM same as RNR
EE same as RNR my guess
Body Wars Same as Dinosaur
Star Tours Same as Dinosaur

Wish they would bring back World of Motion and Horiszon and the Sub Rides These were interesting and informative rides.Where is the Imagenation that was.

:faint:  :crazy2: :headache:  :scared: :charac2:

Amen to that! :worship:

I can't do MS. :faint:  :crazy2: :headache:  :scared: :charac2:

And...This might just be me...The smells on Stitch make me sick. Yuck!

Other than that I'll ride anything else a gazillion times..lol ;)

I really like going to disney and knowing I canget on a cute kiddie ride. If I wanted to ride a rough roller coaster I'd go to six flags. So no I don't like that they are making a little bit harsher rides. I will never get sick of haunted mansion, mr toads( one of my favorites!), or pirates of the carribean (although I was dissappointed by the one at disney wordl). Haven't done ToT yet. The only thing I can't do it Soarin. I'm afraid of heights and it made me SICK!! I figured I'd be ok but once it started I just gribbed the arm rest and closed my eyes! My 8 yr old kept telling me, It's ok momma just don't look down! hahah!
