WHen is the better time to depart disney? i can choose a flight at either 1:10 or 6:30. It is a 2 hr 10 min trip to home airport and another 2 hrs drive to home. My heart says stay in disney as long as you can, but that would put my ds6 and i home at 11pm earliest. The other part of me says leave on the 1:10 flight but that means leave the resort probably by 11am and what could we do before we leave. would probably not even be enough time to have a sit down breakfast.

please help me make this decission :confused3

How many days is your trip? If it's short (less than 5 days), I would go for the later.

We always take the latest flight home we can, (unless we're taking the early flight :rotfl: (sometimes we decide to stay so late we camp at the airport and catch a 6 or 7Am flight home)

We take 2nd flight down (7ish am ) and second to last flight home (9ish pm)

I just try to get all we can out of our time at the world.

I also normally take the next day off as well or leave a Sun open to rest.

I always take the early flight home. I can't enjoy myself and have fun when I know I need to get to the airport. It is nice to get home at a reasonable time and have a chance to unpack or go through the mail before bedtime. I would think you would have time to eat breakfast and finish packing before you needed to leave the airport. It always amazes me to hear that people leave so late. I wish I could enjoy myself with a partial day at the parks or something but I know I just couldn't because I would be looking at my watch constantly.

Given the fact that you have a 2 hr. drive to end your trip after a 2+ hr flight, you may opt to take the earlier flight. Granted, it is nice to hit the parks one last time before you leave but honestly, I think that once you pack up and check out after probably several days of touring already, most people are looking forward to getting back home. Departure day, I feel, is hectic and busy and I cannot truly enjoy myself in the parks on that day. I vote, get home early and relax.

I agree 100%. Even if you're off the next day, it's too hectic.
I tried flying home late in June from Buffalo,NY visiting Niagara Falls. Our flight was delayed 2 hrs. due to T-storms in Baltimore and had a long drive in pouring rain. Our wonderful long weekend visit ended very stressfully.
We like a noon-2pm flight out of MCO. We have to pack to check-out anyway. Our boys like to see their friends while I unpack and we all have some time to unwind before bed. It works for us.

For us, it depends on what we have to do the next day. If our return is on a Sunday and we have work and school the next day, we'd do the earlier return time (as much as it kills us emotionally). I really like returning on a Saturday, however, and as late as possible so we can get a good day of WDW before flying home. The next day is a recovery day for laundry, etc. and everyone is rested for the obligations of Monday.

I would do a character breakfast on the last day and take the earlier flight. That way you can relax on the way home and not dread traveling at 10:00 at night.

It really is the 2 factors of how long your trip is and what you have the next day to do. Basically the early flight would allow you to do a early character breakfast 8:00 or so, which would give you a good cushion of time if you don't get seated right away. The later flight would allow you to be in the park until 3:00 or later (depending on what your mode of transportation is to the airport).

Personally I choose the last flights out, but I also live less than 15 minutes from the airport, so that last leg of the journey is not there for me. If I were in your shoes, I would probably choose the earlier flight to assist in the travel home since it sounds like it would be quite a journey
