Which restaurant outside of WDW parks is a "must do"?

I have to give another vote for Raglan Road. My DW and I enjoy all ranges of dining and this is a nice middle ground where the food is good without being stuffy and the atmosphere is fun and lively with the music and dancers. It is probably the only restaurant that has become a tradition for us to go to each time we head to WDW. We have others that we've gone back to, but not every time.

No one's mentioned this, but Trail's End might be a good fit for your family. It's a buffet, so there are lots of choices, the atmosphere is laid-back, not too loud, and the food's good. Trail's End has the added benefit of being in Ft. Wilderness, so you can have a great stroll beforehand (assuming you're going for dinner), check out all the neat stuff at the fort. And if you leave from MK or the Contemporary, you can take a boat. Also fun.

We are going in October and now I’m seriously considering this raglan road place. I had never heard of it but wow there has been a lot of rave on here about it. I think dh and I will add it to our list of new places to try!

Flippers Pizza located at OldTown shopping. Think it's off 192 hwy. Good pizza and breadsticks

I think fun and noise go hand in hand dont they? Lol....I think your boys would LOVE TRex.
Yup
Raglan Road at DS for us.
Our family’s favorite, always great ambiance and the food is delicious .
I am considering T-Rex, but wondered how loud it is? Does the roaring of the dinosaurs get to be too much
I love Boma but to me, dinner there is the loudest of all restaurants, probably due to the sheer size!

Another option, The Rainforest, The food is simple but the theming is also cute if you have kids!

Have you ever done Hoop De Doo, it’s kinda goofy but great fun for the kids and the BBQ’s not bad!

And if you like the movies, AMC’s Fork & dine in Theater.

TRex is REALLY loud! You may want to consider Whispering Canyon at WL. WL is gorgeous and the antics at WCC are pretty darn fun. It's DS10's favorite restaurant. If you liked O'hana, consider ordering the skillet. And ask for ketchup.

My boys loved the AYCE milkshakes at WCC in addition to the corny humor of the waitstaff. We had a great meal there. The AYCE meal was very good with nice salad, yummy corn bread and great baked beans in addition to freshly smoked meat. Disney built a fine smokehouse for the Lodge so that its smoky scent adds to the atmosphere of the resort.

1900 Park Fare. The stepsisters are a riot. Lady Tremaine may try to marry your sons to one of her daughters :rotfl2:

Don’t worry if your sons have no chance if they don’t own property or cattle. :lmao:

Some of our favorites.....
Whispering Canyon Café (the food is pretty good and it's fun for the kids)
Chef Mickeys (food not that great but the characters are fun for the kids)
Mickey's Backyard BBQ is fun...although it's a little pricey it would fill your evening with entertainment as well and get you in the Disney Spirit
Beaches and Cream (pretty good food and not too pricey)
Disney Springs would be fun tojust do counter service. They have Blaze pizza which is pretty good, Dlux burger, polite pig among others. They are all pretty good. I've never done Raglan Road but most people rave about it.
If you like seafood cape may café is good at dinner time

With 3 boys those ages, my vote would be Whispering Cayon at WL or T-Rex at Disney Springs.

If you want something fun for your boys i would suggest the Whispering Canyon Cafe in the WL. The wait staff is really entertaining and they have fun antics. Make sure one of your boys asks for ketchup and they will bring every bottle in the restaurant to your table lol.

When traveling with my daughter we always go to Raglan Road. She enjoys the music and dancers.
Luckily she has outgrown TRex or Rainforest Café.
She did also enjoy Whispering Canyon Café which is fun, but wouldn't be my choice based on food.

With all of the new choices at DS I would review the menus and pick one that would interest you guys the most.

My kids routinely ask for Cape May Café. I love it, too.

Trail's End is the next choice - good food, casual atmosphere, something for everyone!

If your up for a short drive we love Celebration Town Tavern in Celebration. You can walk around the shops either before or after dinner get some ice crème etc. You can even rent bikes there.

Trails end is very good. The service is always excellent and the buffet has a lot of great options.

Sanaa is another great choice. Great view of the animals and very tasty seasoned food.

Whispering Canyon, decent food and a fun atmosphere. If you don’t have a Rainforest Cafe type of place around home, the kids will probably enjoy it, but a little too loud for my personal taste.

Any of the three restaurants at AKL - Sanaa, Boma, and Jiko. Sanaa has great views of the animals, Boma is a buffet, and Jiko is signature dining. Food is amazing at all three. Personally, I think AKL has the best dining on property.
