Am planning my next trip to WDW and can't decide on which resort to stay at. I was thinking of splitting the stay between 2 resorts or maybe just staying at one. Which of these resorts would you choose & why?

Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Coronado Springs, Port Orleans French Quarter or the Swan & Dolphin.

Well, since I was first to vote I decided to post too.

I pick AKL & WL. Why? Simple that's where I want to go.

Actually my real pick is AKL & GF but if I didn't want the fanciness of GF my other choice is WL. I really like the Whispering Canyon Cafe and I would love to stay somewhere I can see some animals from my room/grounds.

However, short of winning the lottery, I won't be staying at either any time soon. :(

Where ever you pick, you will enjoy yourself because they are at WDW! How can you go wrong.

Let us know what you pick in the end!

hey too of my favorite resorts - POR and WL.

you get a moderate (too help with the budget) and MK resort....what could be better and still reasonable.

I picked to do a split stay at WL and AKL, because that's what we did this past January and loved it. It was like going from the Pacific Northwest to an African savanna in one trip. You feel like you are in another world when you're in those resorts. We had a courtyard view at WL and looking out over that lake every morning and evening was wonderful. Plus you got the boat ride to MK. AT AKL we had a savanna room and got to look out at the animals every morning. I just love the lobby in those two resorts too.

I voted for POFQ. It is small; everything is easy to get to. My DS (DW and I also) loved the pool theme. It is a beautiful walk along the river to get to PORS. And we found transportation to be very good.

I voted AKL/WL

You didn't say how long your trip was...but I voted for a split stay betwenn AKL (we stayed here for 2 nights on a split stay on our first trip to WDW and loved it!--I wish we had stayed for more nights!) I also picked WL--I've stayed at GC in Disneyland and loved it and I think that it's similiar--beautiful!

If you are going to split your stay--plan on at least 3 nights per resort. That way you will have time to explore the resorts.

Have fun!

I voted for WL, but I have to mention that I've never stayed at the others. The theming really appeals to me there.

I would not consider splitting my stay, but that's just my personal opinion. I don't want to be bothered having to pack up all of my stuff in the middle of my vacation just to move to another hotel. It also reminds me too much of having to go home!!

my thoughts exactly! I want to go, unpack, and pretend I never have to leave!

I would not do Coronado. Stayed there once and would not go back. The theming wasn't that great and it is so spread out. It was a good 10 minute walk just to get to the main building.

I would pick WL over AKL strictly due to location. You can take the boat directly to MK, and AKL only has transportation to anything by bus. Love the theming of AKL as well, but think the location of WL is better.

We really enjoyed the WL, and we are trying the AKL in Jan. You can't go wrong with any of your choices!
Have a great time!

My 2 favs are AKl and CS. but since that wasn't a choice I chose WL and CS. They will give you 2 entirely different but great experiences!

Wilderness lodge, We plan on staying their ourselves are next trip. :dog2:

I will just cut and paste this response for my own. I have stayed at WL one trip (I got an incredible deal for getting rerouted from the under remodeling POFQ-they gave me WL for $100/night!! That'l never happen again! BTW-love3d POFQ, too!) And one trip I walked around the AKL-it is breathtaking.

I feel the same way about GF, I have walked through there and felt totally unworthy!! And I haven't bought a lottery ticket in about a year, so when we go next week, we will be staying at the cheap but just-as-fun PC....

CSR and WL because the theming is drasticly different and the locations give you the best of both worlds. If I were you, I would go with a Mod (CSR or POFQ) and Poly....

Just my Opinon ::MickeyMo

forgive my naivete but what is DS and DW?

Wilderness Lodge!! DH and I LOVED this resort!! We are not fans of split stays . . . I insisted on it for our May 2005 trip and regreted it TREMENDOUSLY (four nights at POR and four nights at CBR)!!! We will never do it again!! For some reason it made our trip seem shorter?!? (Sorry, honey, should have listened to you . . . that time!! :cloud9: )

Reason for WL: It's just gorgeous! The lobby is so grand and beautiful . . . and the music . . . ahhhhhhhhh! Just thinking about relaxing on the comfy couches or rocking in the rocking chairs in the lobby makes me tingly!! The rooms are GREAT!! Can't beat the Whispering Canyon Cafe' for a GREAT time and GREAT food (although anyone can dine there!!). The pool is wonderful! The boat ride from the Lodge to MK is so enjoyable/relaxing!

All WDW resorts give me that "warm and fuzzy feeling", but the Wilderness Lodge just had something EXTRA!! We have four DD's and need two rooms . . . the expense of two rooms for our vacation is the ONLY thing keeping us from bringing the girls there!!! Maybe I'll be checking out those AP rates when they come out for the end of April . . . you might see my siggy change!!!

Until someone else had asked the same question on these boards; I didn't know what it stood for either. Learn all kinds of interesting things on these boards. D is for Dear or Darling and S=son or W=wife or H for husband.

You don't say if you are a twosome or traveling with a family. Which means a lot of difference when you talk about split stays.

If it's the two of you... since you've done WL before I would do AKL or a split of AKL & WL (if you loved it there). If you get one of the balcony rooms and could sit out with coffee in the early morning... how cool!! (This might also be an option if your kids are very small and would have early bedtimes... so you'd have somewhere to sit after they are asleep.

If you have kids... I'd do FOFQ and stay there. With kids you don't spend much time in the room anyway, why spend extra for just sleeping and showering... you can still visit all the grand resorts for meals and enjoy all the atmosphere. And spend your $$$ for more Disney fun!!

Have fun planning!!

Wilderness Lodge as one choice definitely and AKL. My personal favourites are WL and the Poly, but I've always wanted to try AKL. Have watched the 360 degree of it on the disney website and it looks great.
