Hey guys, need help with all your experiences at the resorts. We are trying to decide which resort would be best as far as sleeping arrangements. Kelsey is 6 and we need to keep her in her bed. She has outgrown the oversized travel crib so we need her to sleep in a bed with support to keep her from falling. We have stayed at the wilderness lodge and we thought the bunk beds didn't offer enough head room the way she moves around. We were thinking of the deluxe reosrts with day beds but looking at the pictures the side rails aren't very high. We will bring our own front rail. I am not sure if we should go with this or look into ordering something for traveling with a disabled child. Any suggestions or shared experiences?
Thanks a bunch~
Have a great day;)
**A note of accomplishment: kelsey is using her wheelchair less, taking steps while holding our hands. she tires easily but she is progressing:Pinkbounc

Nice to hear of your Kelsey's accomplishments. :D

We have never used them, so I have no idea what they are like, but... in the Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities, they list bedrails as something that WDW Resorts Special Reservations would be able to provide.
Here's the phone number for WDW Resort Special Reservations:
(407) 939-7807
(407) 939-7670 [TTY]

You could also check with one of the full service medical equipment rental places to see what they might have that would work:
Care Medical:

Walker Mobility:
1-888-726-6837

Colonial Medical

Also, http://www.all-about-kids.com/main.htm, rents children's equipment and might have some sort of bedrails that would work for you.

When my youngest DD was littler and we were afraid of her falling out of bed, we did push the bed cloer to the wall so that she would only have one side to fall out. I'm not sure if that would work any more, since some of the beds don't look very easily moveable.
If you are worried more about keeping her from falling out of bed than actaully keeping her from getting out of bed, a blow up mattress on the floor might do the trick. Hospitals and nursing homes sometimes use them for people who are in danger of falling out of bed. They call them "floor beds" and the idea is that if you do fall out, you will only fall a few inches and have very little chance of gettting hurt.

Hopefully someone else has other suggestions. How many people do you have in your party, and what ages? That info might give somebody a better idea.

Oh okay....We have 2 adults & 6 children. we plan on getting 2 rooms.

Did you know that all Disney hotels have bed rails available upon request? They use Fisher Price or Graco rails.
