Which printer would you choose and why . . .

. . .if you had a choice between a high end inkjet color printer that was around the same price as a low end laser color printer?

Printing photos is not an issue - there is a separate dedicated photo printer for that. Printing will be mostly text documents, autocad documents (draft/home use only - there is access to a full size plotter), and documents for DS8, which might be a combo of text and clipart/non photo graphics.

Any brand recommendations for either?

For some reason I'm paralyzed by indecision - thanks in advance!

I work for a company that sells and services office equipment. I would definantly recommend a laser printer. Ink jets are made to be thrown away, I don't know any other way to say it.

Please, if you have any questions or would like a pofessional opinion on any specific products please ask. You could always PM me if you like. I hate to see people buy products that just end up being a waste.

Personally, I would check on supplies and see what you are looking at long term. How expensive is the ink, how much many pages will it print, etc?

We have a very nice HP Laser printer at work. But, its expensive to use. The toner is about $120 each time it has to be replaced. While the quaility is great, I dont know that its that much better then the ink jet.

Laser in a landslide. If you're doing a lot of plain ole text printing, there's no cheaper option.

I'm partial to HP printers b/c they keep going and going and going.
