Which Preferred Loop for 40' MH, Toad, Tent & 4 Slides?

I'll be heading to the Fort in just over a week. I have a Preferred site reserved since my BIL will be joining us & staying in a tent.

The Preferred loops are 100, 200 & 300. 100 looks close to the boat and other amenities, but might be a bit tight.

My motorhome is 40' long, I'll pull our Taurus X 4 wheels down. I have 2 slides on each side and, as I mentioned, need room for a tent.

Which loop should I request?

I would ask for an outside site on 300, but be aware that when you get about half way around the loop there is a sharp turn (the knee in Cyprus Knee, I suppose)... being prepared for it is probably half the battle (having folks completely off the road is the other half!). Have a great trip!

Near the entrance to 300 and the exit are the easy ones. The last time were given one in the back and couldnt fit and after I had asked to be up front because we had a child in a wheel chair. We wound up in the 800 loop.
They need to take out some fences and markers, but this is a protected loop so no changes, we do like the area..

OK, I'll ask for an outer, 300 loop site. I just hope I don't get that sinking feeling like I did last week at Ocean Lakes, Myrtle Beach.

Hopefully you'll be completely on the paved pad (leaving plenty of room for the tent), but if not, the coquina pad is VERY dense... you won't sink. Glad you got out of MB before the fires.

Beware of the very last site on the right, just before the exit of the 300 loop (not sure of the number). The site itself is fine and roomy, but it's at a ridiculous angle to the road for any decent-sized RV. We saw some poor soul struggling to get in there in Dec. I have heard that sometimes CMs will block off the road and let people in that site come in the exit so that they can get in.

The site number is 361, so if they assign that to you, you can reject it right there at the outpost and assure them that it won't work. 330 is another that will be essentially impossible, it is right in the knee.

FYI there are a some sites that are near impossible to back into on 300 loop coming the right way down the one way loop. We have seen a couple times people block traffic with the OK of CM's and go down the wrong way and then back in with ease.

If you're referring to Ocean Lakes, it's a nice campground, just make sure you get a paved spot if you have a big rig.

FYI there are a some sites that are near impossible to back into on 300 loop coming the right way down the one way loop. We have seen a couple times people block traffic with the OK of CM's and go down the wrong way and then back in with ease.

Are they really that small? When we were walking around after lunch at TE, we walked the 100 loop on our way to the bus stop. I don't recall them being terribly small...I recall the last spot on the south end, on the right hand side (if you are walking south) before you got to the Big Pine Road - it had a 35'+ MH AND a crew-cab 3/4 ton truck, with room to spare. I remember commenting to DH - hey we could fit here!... they had a screen room too. Since it was on the edge it felt very spacious. I wish I remember the site number... the location was fabulous, I thought.

Sure, it's possible to get the largest of rigs into even some sites in 100 (the most cramped loop). I have seen a 45' bus conversion in 100. I wouldn't want to be the one trying to shoe-horn my way in, but apparently it IS POSSIBLE. 100 is a great loop if you:

1. don't go to bed early (there is a lot of sound from the HDDR, water pageant, and fireworks)
2. don't mind a ton of foot traffic on your loop, it is a popular shortcut to the Settlement Trading post, and
3. don't need to be too close to a comfort station, as the 200 CS is pretty far from most sites in 100.

That said, I'd rather spend a weekend in the overflow lot at Fort Wilderness than any place within 400 miles of home!

Why not just request ALL of loop 300. You'll be sure to fit all those goodies in there then.

I just noticed that 300 is a pet loop. I hope I don't end up near someone whose dogs bark nonstop.

We were in site 333 last October with a 33' TT, it was a nice site but will be much better when the foliage grows back. We did not experience any issues with the pets or the pet owners. Would go back to that loop again.

It's hit or miss, although in our experience, mostly fine. We were in 300 for 3 weeks in December with dogs ALL around us, and didn't have any barking dogs (including our own). We had some loud kids and human adults but the dogs were quiet.

We have a pretty solid, well-tested system for our dogs when we camp, but we still try and talk to our neighbors and ask them to let us know if our dogs are bothersome so we can do something about it (no complaints so far!)

If you find yourself with an annoying dog nearby, try nicely talking to the people. Some people really aren't aware that their dogs are being annoying, and aren't trying to bother their neighbors. I know if someone told me my dogs were yapping when we weren't there, I'd apologize, thank them for the info and do something about it.

MOST dog owners at FW are considerate of others. There are always a few bad apples here and there (as there are all over - dogs or not), and unfortunately Disney makes it worse by not enforcing their own rules.

I just noticed that 300 is a pet loop. I hope I don't end up near someone whose dogs bark nonstop.

We stayed in the 300 loop on our last trip and didn't have any problems with anybody's pets. But, we have a 35' Class A and it barely fit in the site and we didn't have much room to park our Expedition. I had to park it a little off pavement which I hate to do. We've stayed in the 1300 & 1800 loops before and found them much more accommodating for the "bigger" rigs then the 300 loop. Just my $.02

I won't be at the site much of the day. I'll either be at the parks or the pool. As long as they're not barking at night when I'm trying to sleep, it's not a problem.

I haven't been camping for long, but I've never had a problem with other people's pets. I did have a problem at home for a while with a neighbor who left his barking dogs outside at night.

If your dog barks at night, you should be told to take the dog inside.

My kids are 5 and almost 3. They'll be in bed at night, so they don't keep anyone up.

100, 200 and 300 are the only Preferred loops left. I have a BIL who will be tent camping on our site. I hope I can fit in a good 300 loop.
