Hello fellow dissers!

I am not sure what pin code to use to book an upcoming trip. I was very lucky - I got two of them! :cool1:

Should I use the free QS dining pin code and upgrade to the regular dining plan?

OR :confused3

Do I use the percentage off of the room stay pin? It's 20% off of values, 30% off of mods., and 40% off of deluxes.

What to do, what to do?

Here is the plan for our upcoming trip: We need a room only reservation for Aug. 12, 13 & 14. We were thinking Pop Century. We plan to attend the Star Wars Celebration 5 convention. In the evenings we plan to hit DTD and possible use our GAD to go to EMH at MK.

Then we wanted to book a package for Aug. 15 - 21st with park tixs and the dining plan. Again, we were thinking Pop Century. I was hoping that we wouldn't have to move rooms. I also know that I have to book two seperate reservations to be able to take advantage of the free dining.

So ... I need advice from those who know. What can you tell me?

Thanks so much!
Gina

Is the traveling party 2A and 2C, from your signature? Do you want the DDP?

We are not big fans of the DDP so we would take the room discount.

You need to compare the cost of the QS plan with 20% off a value for the season you are going in.

OP here!

Yes, we will be two adults and two kids. BUT ... my son will be 10 and will be considered an adult on the DDP. Yes, we do want the DDP, but it usually runs us $700 or more per trip. It does allow us to not worry about dining costs and eat at places we wouldn't normally eat at.

Also, I normally stay at CSR and love it there. We were looking at Pop to cut down on the price, but after reading the reviews, I'm concerned.

Still looking for advice from those in the know!

Thanks
Gina

Why would you be concerned about Pop? I thought everyone loved Pop! LOL

When you call to make your reservation have the CM give you prices both ways and weigh your costs versus paying OOP for the meals. If the room discount is cheaper then put the cost of the dining plan on a separate gift card and use it like a dining plan! You may actually come out ahead if you can share meals or get your 10yo kids meals at some of the places.

Honestly though, I love the dining plan also, and it kills me to see the "real" prices of the meals ($225 for the family to eat a meal at Teppan Edo!) So in the end we would probably choose the free dining.

On a side note, we have stayed at all of the mods and our kids love Pop...all four of them, ages 6, 14, 18 and 21. My 6yo is an early reader and loves the giant words. My 14yo loves the cheesecake. My 18yo is a rubiks cube guy..nuf said there. My 21yo loves that we can afford 2 rooms there LOL.

Lucigo - thank you so much! We have only stayed at CBR and CSR, so I was thinking to give Pop a try. I thought everyone loved it too, then I started reading reviews. Thin walls, small rooms and toilets heard flushing were big complaints. Now, we only really sleep and shower at the room. We are park commandos! But, when we return, we want to sleep in peace and quiet.

I am glad to hear something good about Pop as I am trying to get my parents to go again with us. They went in Dec. 2008 with us and we stayed adjoining rooms at CSR and loved it. I want this time to be as magical.

I may give them a call and see what trip comes out the cheaper. Thanks so much! Keep the advice coming!

What are these pins you are referring to?

Thanks!!

They are special numbers I received through my email giving me offers on any upcoming trips. I was lucky enough to get two in the last week or so!

it depends on where your going to stay and your party size.

For example, if your staying at value and the room rate is $100 a night, by using your pin code your saving $20/ day. If you have a party of 4 (1 kids 3 adults), the QS meal plan will cost you $99/ day ($30/ adult $9/kids). Thus the QS is a better deal

If your staying at a moderate with a room rate of $175/night, you save $52.50, again, QS is still abetter value for a family of 4,
If your staying at a deluxe resort, your room rate is going to be more like $350/night so 40% off makes it $210 a night OR $140 off per night, thus the QS is NOT a better deal. You could pay for QS and still net a $40 off your room.
