Which photographer did you go with for your engagement pics?

I've been looking into Orlando photographers to go with for my e-pics. Everyone offers something different and of course at different prices. I'd like to know which photographers you chose and why. If you feel like responding, how much did it cost? I think this would be extremely helpful for future brides.

I booked the Roots for a photo session on our upcoming trip. I would see so many pictures from weddings on disboards and all the ones I absolutely loved were by the Roots. I just love their style and thought every picture I saw was exceptional.

I'm going to book Roots. I love their work. I'm also looking into having them do a bridal session since we're getting married in the parks.

Advice: Listen to your gut

As soon as DH & I had confirmed Disney I started researching photography – After all – photos & video are what you have after the big day(besides your new hubby ) – After TONS of research & recommendations from fellow DIS brides we chose a photographer that is highly recommended & very popular on this site – I was excited & confident with our decision – As the planning progressed I began to get this “uneasy” feeling in the pit of my stomach – I chalked it up to the stress of wedding planning for a while but the felling persisted – I finally realized that it was the photography more to the point lack of communication with the photographer that was eating at me – Phone calls were unanswered & subsequently not returned – emails were ignored & when I would finally reach someone in the office I would ask “did you guys get my email regarding…..” I would be told “no” & then a few weeks later I would get a reply – very confusing is putting it mildly – I had been advised that this particular photographer was “scatterbrained” but not to worry my pics would be great – I had no reason to doubt this – all the work I had seen from previous brides were great – I will not bore you with too many more details but suffice to say – we were shocked when we received our pics – first it was an act of congress to get them(we had coverage from 11am-11pm & originally received fewer pics than escape brides) – I’m still not sure if we have all of them (no cake pics??? & for some odd reason there are very few of DH & I ) - & then there was the quality – over 2000 pics total & then 10 in my siggy are all I can tolerate(& 3 of those I had to Photoshop) – the photographer stills owes us 3 albums & about 20 large prints – but at this point I’m sick of dealing with them – every couple of weekends I spend a day photoshopping images & it makes me crazy – I hope to eventually have enough to make an album

We went back to Disney for our 1st anniversary & by then I had seen the AMAZING work of Roots(thank you LurkyLoo ) & had to have them do a shoot – Nathan & Jensey are truly gifted & genuinely care about their clients – the communication was second to none & sooooo easygoing – some people are meant to do certain things in life & the Roots are meant to do photography – this is the link to our slideshow Better Together & a small sampling of their work – pics were taken while walking around the Boardwalk:

Your siggy pics are good too but that really stinks about the customer service and lack of pics you like. I was surprised by the amount of our E pics from the Roots that I liked. I hate pics of me and I liked over 100 of the 300 e pics we got. And the ones that I don't like were cause I put on 20 lbs from stress eating and didnt like how I looked, not the pic.

I have complete confidence that I will love my wedding pics!

The most important piece of advice is that you need to go with what you feel is best with a photographer. Just like picking an officiant, it all comes down to personal prefence. Having the opportunity to have an engagement shoot is also a great way to determine if you like your photographer's style.

We used Randy Chapman who fit our style and personality fantastic. I wanted a lot of images that captured the details of our day without being heavily Photoshopped which is the style of some photographers. Now, Randy did do Photoshop work for us, but the images without these adjustments are still beautiful to me! Here are some from our engagement shots done at the Polynesian and Wilderness Lodge.
