Which parks - which days?

Our first day to attend the parks will be Sat.

Our last day will be Thursday.

We want to attend Blizzard Beach as well.

What are your recommendations to avoid crowds?

We are staying off property and won't be able to take advantage of the extra hour.

We also want to attend Magic Kingdom at least 2 times.

I don't think we would spend a whole day at Disney Studios.

What parks would you go to on what days?

Thanks for your recommendations!!!!!!!!!!

That link just told me the best day to visit MK was Saturday. Isn't it a universal constant the Saturday is the busiest day of the week for MK?

I thought Sunday is considered the busiest day at the MK.
This uses the logic that "new" guests fly into Orlando on Saturday so their first day at the parks usually bring them to MK.
Isn't the person who started this post arriving on a Sat?
Hmmmmm??:earsboy:

I have the unofficial guide and its says that Saturday is busy most of the year except in the Summer. They reason that during the summer most locals stay away from Disney (why go in the hot crowded months of July when you can go in cool early December?) and out of state visitors spend the weekend travelling.

Also, I believe since many summer visitors arrive on Saturday or Sunday they will attend MK on Sunday or Monday. I know some people hit the parks straight away, but if you arrive on Saturday I guess you cannot go to the park until the mid-afternoon at the earliest. If someone already settled at Disney arrives before the park opens you should miss the Saturday arrival crowd.

Len Testa of the Unofficial Guide regularly monitors these boards perhaps he can explain better than I! :D

Thanks debkorb1.

Hey folks,

Our statistician is going to try to address the "What day is the Magic Kingdom the busiest?" question in the next 30 days using our most recent set of data. I don't want to speculate too much until then, but I've not seen or heard anything yet that tells us our website suggestions are wrong.

One thing we hope to do is to clarify what we mean by "busy." We're taking the approach that attraction wait times, rather than attendance levels, are what most people are concerned with when they ask whether the parks are "busy."

Certain headliner attractions, such as Big Thunder, Space Mountain, and Splash Mountain, can vary the number of ride vehicles in operation. So, for example, on a day with relatively light attendance, Splash Mountain might have 35 (just a guess) or so boats in the water. During peak periods, that number might be more than double.

Disney restricts the number of ride vehicles running to avoid maintenance costs on those vehicles, which probably have to be serviced every X hours of operation, and the ride system itself. And, as we've noted elsewhere, a certain amount of wait time on every attractions is probably desirable from a theme park operations (i.e., Disney's) perspective.

To be sure, there are certainly days when "busy" means both high attendance and high wait times (e.g., Christmas). But there are days where extra ride capacity more than balances out higher attendance, resulting in more people and lower wait times.

So, when we ask whether the Magic Kingdom is "busy," I think most people could care less whether there are 25,000 or 40,000 people in the park. It's the wait times at the popular attractions that they're concerned with. That's what we hope to address.

Marie32, the easiest way to avoid the crowds is, as you're planning, to split the Magic Kingdom up into two days. If you'd like a touring plan for that, let me know.

Sincerely,

Len Testa

I find the parks much more manageble if you follow the EMH schedule one day behind. If Monday is EMH for MK, then visit MK on Tuesday, and so on. Even though we stay onsite, we always follow this schedule and have never been disappointed. We don't have any little ones and like to sleep in a little, so this plan works well.

Len Testa-

I would love a touring plan. I will be arriving 4-23-04 (friday)
but will not be attending the parks on arrival day and will leave
on 4-30-04 (friday). We have two small children...
Thanks for all your input and help!!!!!!!!
