Which park to reserve first on a Merriest Nites date?

We have 3-day hoppers and I'd originally booked Nov 16 as our only DCA start day. Now with that being a Merriest Nites event date at Disneyland, would it be better to start in DL or does it really matter? There are 3 of us: me, my daughter, and my 4-year-old grandson.

I feel like it would be better to start at DL on that day since you wouldn't be able to get in until 1pm otherwise. That being said, if you end up not being able to I don't think you will greatly miss out on too much Disneyland time since you could get in at 1pm and I *think* they are letting non-ticketed folks stay until the event starts at 8pm (if they start ushering people out earlier, someone correct me)--so you would still get 7 hours in Disneyland potentially. Still, if it were me it'd be preferable to start the day in Disneyland since I'd know I couldn't be there in the evening. But you said you have a 4 year old traveling with you so I'm not sure how late you'd stay anyway.
