HI:

I assume there are 2 different outlet malls in the area close to WDW.

Which is the BEST mall to go to????

Thanks

That is like asking someone which is the best restaurant, pointless and purely based on opinion. Both outlet malls have websites. Look through the websites and see which outlet mall has the most stores that appeal to you. That one is the best.

I was wondering if PRICING at one was better than the other, for example.

We haven't seen anything at any Orlando outlet mall that made us think of how much better it was than the outlet mall near our home. 6.5% sales tax on clothes. In July we bought a total of 2 items, a bathing suit and some socks.

Another thing to keep in mind, especially if you don't have any outlet malls near where you live, is that nowadays outlet stores carry items that are specifically made for the outlets. It's not like the old days when they would gather up unsold merchandise, returns and irregulars. Now they sell cheaply made versions with fake MSRPs then "mark them down" with fantastic discounts that end up being exactly what they wanted to sell them for in the first place. Coach, Brooks Brothers, Michael Kors and many others sell items you will never see anywhere else but in outlet stores. You can probably do a Google search to find out if your favorite brand sells knockoffs of their own items at the outlets.

Mike,

Considering where you are coming from, you will probably find some good deals. Florida's state 6.5% looks much better than our 13%HST, and as long as our dollar remains near parity, prices for many things look pretty good - kind of like Costco but you don't need to buy by the gross.

We did Premium Outlets last March and found lots of bargains for me. DW didn't do quite as good, but still found a few good things. The main thing is to hit both Prime and Premium Outlet web sites first and see what stores are there and match to your desires.

I loaded up mostly on Columbia clothing at (IMO) Mark's Work Wearhouse prices.

Make sure that you also look for additional discounts available. We took the Orlando Magicard (online printable from the Orlando Convention Bureau) to the Customer Service booth to get a book full of additional discounts. At many stores, that'll knock another 10% off the price.

Happy Shopping!

THANK YOU!:cool1:

The Premium Outlet mall is close to DTD and the next closest outlet mall is the relatively small Lake Buena Vista Factory Outlets. The Prime Outlet area is huge but located at the northern tip of International Drive about 11 or 12 miles from DTD. Primarily because of the traffic on I-Drive I'd suggest that you plan on at minimum a 20 to 30 minute drive from DTD to the Prime Outlets.

All the outlet malls are about the same. You need to check their store listings online and then decide which stores you want to go to. You may end up hitting all of them.

The major ones are Orlando Prime, Orlando Premium, and LBV Factory Stores. You can take I-4 to the vicinity of all 3 and avoid the traffic on I-Drive.

Of course, then there's Mall at Millenia and Florida Mall, but those are regular malls.

There are other factory stores in the area, not necessarily in those malls.

I wouldn't put LBV in the same category; we were in and out in an hour, with almost nothing to show for it. The electronics store was ridiculously overpriced... (IMHO)
