We are trying to decide where to stay this time...and we have decided to go off-site.

Here are the choices:

Radisson Resort Parkway...$66 per night

Holiday Inn Maingate EAST...$47

Clarion Maingate...$44.40 each night...every 3rd night free!

Howard Johnson Maingate East..$34.90

We are looking for price (obviously)...but I do not want to be unhappy with the stay!

Are any of the above prices a "bargain"?

Have you stayed at any of the above....if so, we want to hear the good, the bad and even (ecspecially) the ugly ;)

Any and all input welcome!

I've not stayed at any of these properties, so I can't help there. However, I have a suggestion: there is a review about Radisson Resort Parkway on the Mousesavers site: www.mousesavers.com.

Also, if the search function is working, try searching this board for any posts about these particular lodgings.

I think the HIME would be hard to beat at that price. Very decent property, well situated, easy to get to Disney and good for kids.

When are you traveling?

The Courtyard by Marriott has rooms for $25. on certains nights thru the first of Oct.

Go to mousesavers.com for more info.

I did see that! I even called to make a ressie...but we are traveling too late. The rate was good through 10-3...and our dates are 10-18 through 10-25.

Thank you for the information though...and I hope it helps out someone else looking for a GREAT rate!

Just a post-reservation note on the Maingate East. From the perspective of someone who isn't hard to please: My wife and I have stayed three times at HJME. It has it's drawbacks, as does anything in that price range. However, each time our room was adequet, the distance from the parks is surprisingly close, and with two large pools, it's a good place to kick back. It helps that there's a Waffle Shp and Perkins (I think) right next to it, along with several convenience stores for sundries.

A STRONG SUGGESTION: I would highly suggest paying the extra for a "double delux" or whatever they're call it these days (I've stayed twice in room 8114, if you can get it). You get the microwave and fridge, and you're close enough to the pools to hit them with a hard breath. I'd also suggest staying at the back pool (the one without the bar). MUCH more family friendly, as there's no drinking taking place (worry not, if drinking's your thing, it's another 100 yards away). And because the bar and the hot tub are at the front pool, there never seemed to be many people at the back pool in Mid-June. Of course, in October that point may be mute. But I'd recommend the double delux for pool proximity and refer/micro.

Just noticed you said you'd booked the HI, not the HJ. Disregard previous message. Sorry!

We stayed at the HIME in Sep 2000. It was a good hotel but the rooms at the rear had not been renovated when we stayed. These rooms were a little dated but larger than the rooms at the front of the hotel nearer to the lobby etc. We returned here towards the end of our stay and when we showed our priority club card were given a poolside room. These rooms had been renovated but were slightly smaller. Each room had microwave and fridge in washbasin area outside the bathroom, iron/board, hairdryer. If you stay there would suggest you go on their website and enrol in the priority club - they will give you a better room then. However both rooms were clean. There is a supermarket on site and its in a good location by Old Town. There are two pools and entertainment for the kids (castle building by the pool showing videos and has magicians etc.) and the magician also goes in the lobby for balloon modelling. There's also a game room for the kids. For the price is was fine, nice and clean and great location. McDonalds over road, Red Lobster, Pizza Hut, Bennigans, Ponderosa + others.

Have you looked at Country Inn & Suites at Calypso Cay?

I have not stayed there yet but do have reservations for around the same time you are looking for ..I have read many good things about this property and from what i understand it is fairly new..

we got a standard room rate of $39.50 with the entertainment card ..( you can get EC at the moment for $10 or $20 at some sites but this will go up shortly)

we were offered the kids suite for the same time at $69.50..not sure if that is still good or not but you could try..

the number I called was 407 997 1400

hope this helps , not confuses!

ps, I also got a very very good rate with Dollar for an intermediate car for $125 a week, if you will be needing that , you can PM

me for details
