Which of these will be the best time of year to go?

I have never been to DL before and we are thinking of planning a trip either next year or 2014. These are the only times we will be able to travel, so even though they are not ideal, can you let me know which of these times you would go?

2nd week in March
Summer (June - August)
Thanksgiving week
Last two weeks in Christmas (Christmas and New Years)

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Worst week is Christmas.
Weekend to Wedneday before Thanksgiving will be busy too.

Honestly I'd pick summer (July or early August to avoid SoCal APs) over mid-March for weather alone. March is hit or miss what kind of weather you will get, likely sunny though not necessarily all that warm. Summer in SoCal isn't that bad.

My vote would be for summer. As a PP said, the weather can be hit or miss over spring break, it's very crowded, and there are still some refurbs going on. I have never been over Christmas but from what I understand about the crowds, I don't want to!

If you go in summer, check the AP blockout calendar before you set your dates. Avoid the week before the big summer blockout starts, and the week it is lifted (usually 3rd week in August) - I learned that lesson the hard way!

If you can, go during the week (rather than weekend) during the summer - there will be just as much entertainment and still long hours, but slightly lower crowds.

Depends what the criteria is ... do you just want to minimize crowds or do you want to see the park dressed up with seasonal decorations?

If it's to minimize crowds, then I'd say best is March, second best is a weekday in summer, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas/New Year's.

If you want to see the park dressed up then I'd pretty much flip that list around in reverse order LOL. The crowds peak during Christmas/New Year's but we go every year during that time and always find it to be the most enjoyable trip of the year because everything is so festive and the visitors seem to be in a good mood.

I guess my point is to consider more than just the crowds. That's one important criteria obviously but there are lots of variables in what constitutes a good visit.
