DH and I want to try something new at DTD in January, and we've never been to Cap'n Jack's, Fulton's Crab House or Portobello Yacht Club. Which is the best? We're going back to Bongo's, which we loved, and finally trying Wolfgang Puck Cafe, too.

Thanks!

I haven't been to Portabello Yacht Club, but of the other two I prefer Fulton's. It is overpriced (what at Disney isn't <g>!) but they do have good seafood. To me, Captain Jack's menu was limited and mundane- just to "ho hum" for me.

if you want to walk a few more steps........House of Blues has an excellent menu selection.....we loved it there.....

I know you didn't mention it as one of your choices, but House of Blues has great food. Our appetizer was shrimp in a beer reduction sauce with cornbread. It was so good, DH asked for more cornbread so he could finish the sauce.:thumbsup2

I do agree with the House of Blues suggestions - great food! :thumbsup2

My choice of your alternatives would be Portobello Yacht Club. The menu is a bit different than most of the other Italian places at WDW. Fultons's is expensive, but good. Captain Jack's is, in my opinion, mostly a spot for a quick drink and nosh. Great view, but not my first choice; there are too many other great spots at DTD.

We had a wonderful dinner at Portobello last June. Really yummy.:thumbsup2

We ate at Capt Jacks once and were fairly disappointed. Much better places in DTD IMHO. It was a few years ago though.

Portobello's has really great food. We liked it so much that we decided to eat there again on our last night in DW. They had this really great peach drink that was awesome and the food was equally as good, our 2 DDs loved the make your own sundae bar too. My DH said that this place has got to be a must do for now on. Plus, it was very easy for us to get into Portobello's without an ADR, and we went the last week of June. We originally had planned on going to RFC in DTD, and since no ressies were needed the wait was over 2 hours long . So on the phone with Disney Dining I went, and was able to get into Portabello's about 10 minutes later. We were so glad RFC had such a long wait, or we probably would never of tried it.

If you enjoy seafood, Fulton's is amazing, expensive but amazing. We have eaten there a few times and really enjoyed it. On this last trip (late August) we ate at Raglan Road as well and will go back there again.

JMHO yet I would say anywhere other than Cap' N' Jacks :scared:

I have eaten at all three.

Fulton's is my favorite

Portobello is AMAZING :cloud9:

I would NEVER go back to Capt. Jacks :scared:

It's really a draw for me. If you want AMAZING seafood, it's Fultons, but if you want AMAZING Italian, it's Portobello. Either way you won't be disappointed.

Capt. Jack's however, is probably one of the worst restaurants on WDW property. It's below mediocre at best.

We have eaten at all three of these restaurants. Our favorite is Portobello Yacht Club. From the appetizer to the desserts, we loved all the food as well as the atmosphere and wait staff. Everything was excellent!! Fulton's was okay, but we wouldn't go back to Cap'n Jacks.

Haven't been to Portobello in a while, but it has always been good when we went.

Have you been to Raglan road yet...it is much better than Wolfgangs if you like good food.

For those of us who don't like Italian(having grown up with a Sicilain grandmother who cooked 24/7, one tend to get tired of it) I have to say Portobellos has something even I liked. can I just say the lamb was to die for?! The service was impeccable, the food luscious and the chocolate cake a sin.

Fulton's was right out for me due to my allergy to anything that wears it's skeleton on the outside, so the Yacht club was a good compromise for DH and I, he who loves his shellfish.

Thanks for all the help! Looks like Capn Jack's is DEFINITELY off the list!! We ate at HOB in 5/04, so maybe we should try that again. We are DVC members, and are staying at SSR this time. We're only going to Epcot, for one day, the other days are to rest, sleep late, and eat good food. I'm trying to stay mostly at DTD, since we'll be right across the water from it.

We can get great seafood here in Savannah, and the prices at Fulton's look scary  compared to what we're used to paying, so maybe we'll try Portobello.

Thanks!
