Which of these Harbor Hotels?

We are planning a 4-night trip in late January 2024. Not sure yet of the prices of the on-site hotels, but considering that we would like some space, we will probably stay off-site.

We have stayed at Hojo's and Fairfield Inn many years ago. Most recent off-site was the Residence Inn, which we found a tad too far away for us. For this trip, we would like more space and a very close walk. We also value clean, relatively quiet (I know...motels on Harbor) and if possible, recently renovated. Breakfast isn't that important to us because we will have a car and will have bought some items to eat while we wait in line in the esplanade each morning.

I appreciate any comments on any of these places. Or other suggestions. Thank you!

Here are some places that we are considering...

The Anaheim Hotel
Catalina Luxury Suite - $2,004
deluxe guest room with a King bed, a luxurious bathroom with a soaking tub and separate shower, connecting parlor features a pull-out sofa bed, bar, sitting area, powder room and an oversized patio. 1000 sqf
Parking - $20 per night
No breakfast

Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites
C1 Parlor Family Suite - $1,568 (two-bedroom suite, four queen beds, one-and-a-half bathrooms)
C2 Parlor Family Suite - $1,755 (two bedrooms, four queen beds, and a separate living room with a queen sofa sleeper, two bathrooms)
Rates include parking fee of $20 per night
Free breakfast

Park Vue Inn
Mini Suite - $1,493 (2 queens and a sleeper sofa)
Free Parking
No breakfast

Camelot Inn & Suites

Two Room Family Suite - $2,172 (newly renovated Family Suite offers 2 spacious rooms and includes a King bed, Double Sofa Bed, 2 Queen beds, and 1 bathroom)
Parking - $22 per night
No breakfast

As you can see in my signature, we have stayed at both the Park Vue and Desert Inn. Both are super close but basic. No real complaints about either and would stay at both again.

I have stayed at Park Vue Inn, and it's relatively basic, as is Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites, but it doesn't get much closer to be able to walk to Disneyland. On my last trip to Disneyland I decided to stay at a hotel on Katella. The hotel itself was very nice, but the walk was just too much for me.

Of the onsite hotels, I have only stayed at the Disneyland Hotel a couple of times. If you can justify the cost, it really is lovely to be able to stay there.

For my trip in October 2023, I'm staying at the recently renovated Candy Cane Inn. I have stayed here in the past, and it was nice. Relatively quiet with beautiful grounds, and their breakfast offerings were nice. They also have a shuttle for those of us who have the energy to walk to Disneyland in the morning, but by the end of the day want to take the shuttle back to the hotel. :-)

I recently stayed at Desert Inn and Suites. It was my third time to stay there.

The rooms are basic but fine for me.

Room amenities
  • Microwave
  • Fridge
  • Coffee Maker
  • Iron and ironing board
  • Extra pillows
  • Manual aircon unit
The room I had Delux standard had 2 double beds and a bath with shower and shower curtain

Check In is 3pm, Check out is 11am. There are lockers for carry on size bags and a locked storage room for large checked in roller bags. The lockers need quarters.

Other amenities
  • Basic grab and go breakfast from 7am to 9.30am which is pastries, fruit, cereal, tea, coffee, juice
  • Indoor pool
  • Laundry room
  • Vending machines
The walk is about 7 minutes from closing the room door to joining the bag security check lines.

I am a solo female and I have no issues walking from the parks when its dark or staying at this motel with outside corridors. All 3 stays have been in various parts of the property. There are elevators as well as stairs to the upper level. There is a rooftop fireworks viewing area but I haven't been up there.

It has now become my go to hotel.

I'd go with Desert Inn. You're not likely to spend a ton of time in the room, but you have the extra living area besides 2 bedrooms. It's not fancy, but it's clean and very close. It's one of my go-to places when I'm not on site. Deciding between 2 baths and 1 1/2 would maybe depend on how many of you there are.

Things to know about DI: the pool is indoors, they have large lockers for luggage storage in a little room off of the office (they've always stored our bags but if they run out of space, they have you use the lockers), and the breakfast is nothing much, but you can grab some fruit or cereal and a coffee/juice.

Anaheim Hotel is maybe a half notch above but there's no breakfast and it's about twice as far from the crosswalk. I'd also prefer 2 full baths.

Park Vue--super close but 1 bathroom. It is also a basic motel, but the location is the best out of these motels, and free parking is a cost saver if you have a car (I don't ever have a car so it doesn't figure in for me). Also no breakfast.

I would hesitate on Camelot due to it only having 1 bathroom, 2 rooms which are not specified as to whether or not they can be closed off from one another, parking fee, no breakfast, and priciest.

Desert inn and suites C2 is my go to room when we go, the C1 only has one shower so its kind of a hassle, what is also nice is if no one sleeps on the pull out people from one room can go out without disturbing people sleeping in the other room
