Which moderate resort for solo travelers?

OK, so where have you solo travelers stayed at WDW? Did you feel more comfortable at one resort vs another being solo? I'm going to be taking my first solo trip and am trying to decide which moderate I will feel most comfortable staying. I will either be at a value or moderate, can't afford a deluxe!

Any thoughts/opinions/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

You're going by yourself? Do you meet up with friends/family once you get there? Do you have to eat at restaurants by yourself and go on rides alone? I'm not trying to sound ignorant, but I've never heard of going to disney all alone. If I were to go anywhere alone, it would be to an island where I can lay on the beach and order room service!

My first solo trip I stayed at Caribbean Beach in a King Size Bedroom. It was nice. Relaxing...never heard a sound from the surrounding rooms while I was in my room.

it sounds like a wonderful trip! I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside recentely and it was verrrrrry peaceful and relaxing

I stayed alone at Port Orleans French Quarter last September and loved it.

Before we joined DVC, I was another one who always stayed at POR on my solo trips. Part of the reason was the convenient, huge food court. Also, I love nature. Now I stay at BCV, just love to sit on the couch in the Solarium and read while eating a gelato from the Marketplace.

I second that!! I have stayed there with my family! Its a great resort, and its really small. We always request building 4 which is close to the food court and the bus stop. And on the buses you are the first to be picked up and the first to be dropped off.

I would stay there solo, but since i'm always in the parks i chose to stay at PoP, its was a little easier on the pocket book! :)

I recently stayed at CSR, a moderate resort, during my trip. It was lovely -- I was close to the bus stop, and CSR does not share buses with other resorts so it never takes more than 10 minutes to get to the parks. There's a restaurant, a bar, and Pepper Market which is a counter-service restaurant with many different food stations. I really enjoyed my stay there.

As you can tell from this particular forum, there are plenty of adults who do Disney on their own. We go on every ride that we want, see every show that we want, and eat where and when we want. If you've been to Disney, you'll likely have noticed that there are actually a lot of solo travellers there. I was one such solo traveller last month. Loved it. I travel solo 95% of the time, and I am never bothered by dining alone. You meet lots of other folks along the way, and everyone's always friendly and helpful -- especially if you're trying to take photos :)

If you ever get the chance to go solo to Disney, try it. You just might never want to bring the kids with you again. It's pretty addictive!

I have stayed in all of the moderates - except CBR which I will be visiting in March - on my solo trips. I enjoyed them all, and I think the preferences come down to the theme. I especially liked being able to take the boat from POR to Downtown Disney - it really is a pleasant trip. Just make sure to apply bug spray if you are traveling at dusk. Coronado Springs was also fun - I stayed in Cabanas section and was actually upgraded. My stay in French Quarter was before the refurbishment so I can't speak to how the rooms are now. I am looking foward to Caribbrean Beach this March. I have friends in Florida who I visit after WDW - they just go there so often they beg off going with me which is fine. I really do like being by myself for a few days - Go figure :cool1: 43 days and counting til WDW.

Like Simba's MOm I stayed at POR before joining DVC. It was also the Disney resort where I had my most stays other than at a DVC resort. I have also stayed at POFQ and CBR, but by far POR was the best. My only complaint? Disney dropped the Dixie Landings name of the resort. It will always be DL to me.

I've stayed at least one night at each of the moderates, but I've had
longer stays mostly at POFQ and POR. If I had a choice, I actually like
POR better in some ways, and POFQ in other ways.

French Quarter: Only has one bus stop, always first stop when sharing with
Riverside. Smaller resort, so that even the farthest rooms aren't that bad
if you want to do the hike to the food court and bus stop.

Riverside: Best landscaping of the moderates, as far as I'm concerned. It
always is so gorgeous when you walk around the resort. I prefer the AB
section, but it's tough trying to get the 14-18 building "block".

But, when I joined DVC, I found that my cash stays on weekends have been
taken over by Pop Century since that opened. I find it the best of the
Value resorts. It doesn't share any busses with another resort, and it
also has one stop. The only downside is that the theming of the Value
resorts can be pretty "loud" for lack of a better term. Don't get me wrong,
I like it, for the most part, but I often prefer the less "theme screaming"
resorts in the Moderates.

It was nice at first, when I could get the 70's buildings, but lately they tend
to only have available rooms in the far reaches of the 80's and 90's Siberia.
What's up with that? :confused3 It's not a huge deal, as I tend to cut
across when I need to get to the busses, but I really loved my stays at
the 70s buildings.

yikes thats where i stayed last March - my one and only time at Pop so far - I requested it again - maybe they now put the wknders in the 80s/90s?!

As with Disneydave POR will always be Dixie Landings, why did they change the name?? It is a quiet resort, great food, great paths to walk or cycle on. Only a boat ride away from Downtown Disney with great nightlife, eating and shopping

Dixie Landings... oops, I mean POR, is very nice. CSR is, too. But here's my vote for ASMo. When you stay in Mighty Ducks or Toy Story it's like being a kid, again. There's a lot of energy from the young families staying there. Bus service is great, you can walk to Blizzard Beach, plus the money you save can be put to use elsewhere. :happytv:
