My DH commented that he felt the bus ride from CBR to MK was long. I thought the POFQ might be a few minutes shorter, but I read in another post that its longer.

I know the deluxes are closest, but is there any one moderate that is a closer bus ride to MK?? Is there much of a difference??

I looked on a map of WDW property and they all look about the same distance if you drew a straight line to the MK, but I think POR/POFQ are the closest.

I remember passing by POR/POFQ when going from the MK to CBR.

What great info! Thanks for the link, safety mom. I never even realized we had that info here. :)

I'm not sure how accurate that link is. Hard to believe they think it's 3 miles from Boardwallk to EPCOT.

CSR is the closest. I imagine the link's stated 3 miles for the Epcot Resorts to Epcot itself is the driving distance from parking lot to parking lot, not walking distance to the International Gateway.

It's so funny that the ride from PO-FQ and PO-R is longer than that at CBR, but the busses don't seem to run quite as often at CBR, so it seems as though the trip to MK from the PO resorts is shorter.

eeyore(?) has hit the nail on the head. It's not the actual distance, but the transportation options that make the difference. MK is longer by car from anywhere because you have to transfer to a monorail or boat. A bus that makes six internal stops or goes via a water park will take much longer than one that goes direct, no matter what the actual distance from the resort to the park might be.

I don't really trust those calculators. I've found them to be way off.

At any rate, in my personal experience, from gate to gate to MK, it will be Coronado, then Port Orleans, then Caribbean Beach. However, the difference is only a minute or two between them -- not enough to make any difference whatsoever.

Bottom line, go with the resort theming that you like, and don't favor a resort for a mere 90 seconds. :)

Dumb question alert...

if you stay at an Epcot resort can you walk thru Epcot to use the monorail to get to the TTC? or is that impossible before the International Gateway opens? (does it open when the WS opens?) what about Swan/Dolphin in relation to enter Epcot??

Great advice! :earsgirl:

The International Gateway opens when Epcot opens. (9 a.m.?) Yes, you can walk through Epcot to the monorail if you want to as long as you can park hop.

Keith or anyone else that can answer this...

If we stayed at the Poly and wanted to get to MGM via monorail, could we take the monorail to Epcot, walk through Epcot, and then walk to MGM? If so, about how long of a walk (time-wise) is it?

TIA,

You can when any part of Epcot is open, but I wouldn't unless I was already in Epcot and wanted to go to the MK. It's a really long walk (20 mins at least), especially if you are coming from the S/D.

The S/D is about a 10 minute walk to the Gateway...you have to walk past the Y/BC or take the boat. It's best to boat to Epcot & MGM and bus to MK.

I think it would be about 5 minutes walking to the monorail, then about 30 minutes walking from monorail through Epcot to MGM. All together it should be around 45-50 minutes? I've never done it. Just a guess.

Oh my! That is a looong walk! By the time I get to MGM, I would want to head back to my room to rest!

You're right, y ou can get to MGM from the TTC without taking the bus. My advice though is to take the monorail to Epcot, walk through Epcot, and get on the boat to MGM from the International Gateway instead of walking. It's probably going to take a bit longer than taking the bus to MGM from the TTC, but I still think the Monorail ride from TTC to Epcot is one of the best rides in the World!
