Which Moderate resort do you prefer, and why? I've only stayed Deluxe (AKL & Poly, once each) but would like to find a "good" Moderate for our upcoming trip.

The trip will consist of myself (37), DD10, and parents (56 & 57).

I would like to stay somewhere that will make us all happy, and somewhere that will seem "special" to my parents since this is a gift trip and their first trip to Disney in 20 years, and first time staying onsite. And dare I say, a bit of romance factor for the parents, in case they want some alone time at the resort? I'm thinking somewhere they can walk and enjoy the grounds... (we will have 2 seperate rooms)

I sort of have it narrowed down to 2 resorts (but I'm open for suggestions): CSR (I've always been interested in staying at) and POFQ (never considered before but like the idea of it not being so spread out). I'll be honest, I didn't care for AKL because we were SO far from the lobby, pool, restaurants & bus stop; loved Poly because we were one building away from the great ceremonial hall.

We liked CBR for it's tropical feel. The grounds were absolutly beautiful!! We will not hesitate to stay there again. The resort is spread out. If you don't want an incredibly long walk to the food court, I would go preferred. We stayed in Aruba which is across the lake. It was only about a five minute walk across the bridges to get to the food court.
The main pool is under construction now and will be until September.
I know that CBR was not listed as one of the ones you narrowed it down to, but if it does somewhat interest you, you can check out my pictures from 2006 below.

Wonderful pictures, thanks for sharing! I've never noticed how pretty the grounds are before, but your pictures certainly show they are. Hmm, looks like I do need to consider this resort also...

CSR! I love the atmosphere at the resort. It feels like a vacation within a vacation. The transportation is great, the pool is very relaxing. I like getting a drink and sitting by the pool watching my kids have a great time. The food is very good as well. I like having choices at the food court other than burgers and chicken fingers. I can get a rib eye if I want and it only counts as counter service on the DDP.

Another vote for CSR! We are staying for the 7th time this September for our 25th anniversary. Although it is a very large resort and spread out, you can request (although not guaranteed) a building closest to what you are interested in. They also have golf cart type vehicles that go around the grounds that will drive you if you so choose (we've been offered more times than we can count, but we like the walking). We love the food court, the gift shop, the spa (I get a massage every year), the quiet pools, the Dig Site pool with the slide (this has always been our boys' favorite). The CM's are terrific as is mousekeeping.

We stayed at POR and CSR last November as a split stay, and although I loved them both, I really loved CSR. It is spread out, but I didn't find it too bad, and you can always take the bus around the the front (as the park busses stop at the front last).

The pools, both adult and kiddie, are awesome. Great slide. The pool bar has drinks and food. Great playground for the kids.

Since it caters to business folk, there are nice bar options. My mom and I walked down and sat at the outside bar in the front, and there were also little candlelit tables by the water. I think they just put in a new lounge in the main building, it was under construction when we were there. The food was good at Pepper Market... service kind of slow, but the food was good.

I love CSR and we were going to stay there again this time, but we opted to try a villa instead.

Now as for POR.... the grounds there are just beautiful. The pool was fun, and you can also take the water taxi or walk down to POFQ and use their pool. The food court was nice and Boatwrights was good. I liked this one a lot too, just liked CSR slightly better.

Good luck!
Kim :)

We love POFQ, with POR a close second. POFQ is super for the close proximity to everything~ pool, bus, boat, food, etc. It is charming and very rich feeling for a moderate. I personally liked it much better than WL.

Here are my 360 shots~ click on the pic to stop the motion.

My family LOVED POFQ! It is such a beautiful resort and the smaller size is awesome! Not to mention the boat ride to DTD!

Personally my fav is CBR. It was the "first" Disney moderate and therefore has bigger rooms and your "standard" view is less likely to be "Full parking lot" LOL!

I like the tons of quite pools, the beach and the hammocks.

I am not in love with POR and POFQ. IMHO they remind me of "cheap" southern Apts, but they are nice hotels.

Now, my least fav is CSR. I have stayed there several times and ALWAYS have major problems. Plus, there is VERY little romantic about having thousand of conventioners on vacation with you LOL!

We have only stayed at CBR and POFQ. Out of those 2, POFQ is our favorite. My DH actually prefers POFQ to every deluxe (except the YC)!!!!
