Which meal for breakfast: Tusker House or 'Ohana?

I'm thinking we don't need 2 character breakfasts. Both are buffets, I think? Which would you say is better food / more fun? Thanks!

Technically, 'Ohana is not a buffet.

I would choose 'Ohana though if you had to make a choice between them. I had a 9:45 AM ressie at TH and was ignored until almost 10 AM. I finally said something (I did have my buzzer but it never buzzed) and finally sat down for breakfast at 10:15 AM but I barely got an apology. The food was nice but being forgotten left a bad taste in my mouth. At 'Ohana, the food is brought to your table, the characters are very animated (:lmao:) and generally pretty laid back.

Probably my two favorite breakfast choices, can't wrong with either.. but if I was choosing (and assuming you are going to AK that day anyway), would choose Tusker House if I could still get an 8:00..UNLESS, you are staying at a Monorail resort, then its back to a toss up.. :)

I liked Ohana better. We waited about an hour to be seated at Tusker and that was with an ADR, then they started getting ready for lunch so we were rushed. The food was good, just a bad experience.

We love TH. We like the food options and getting in the park before it opens. I'm sure both would be good depending on your schedule.

I would choose Tusker House. I like the food there better. There is more variety. O'hana is not a breakfast buffet. It is served family style and is a set menu brought to your table. It is all you can eat.

I have had bad experiences with wait times at both places, so wouldn't let that be your determining factor.

I think the big question is what park are you headed to after breakfast. Depending on the answer, that is how I would decide where to dine.

Good luck.

;)Tusker House is one of my favorite for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. There are more choices from the buffet at TH that at Ohana.

Tusker House is my families favorite breakfast. It is one restraunt that is a unanomous decision with everyone. We love it.

We could eat at either 8:15 or 10:15 at Tusker House (park opens at 8am that day), and I could get a 10:30 reservation at 'Ohana. I think we'll be at a monorail resort.

I'm thinking the 8:15 reservation time is when I'll wish we were riding stuff in AK. It's the least crowded time of the day, so I don't know if that's the best time for us to be sitting in a restaurant. By 10:15, I was thinking the crowds would be gathering and we could pull fast passes and take a break.

Same for the 10:30 reservation at 'Ohana - we could be in MK for a couple of hours then have late breakfast at 'Ohana. Maybe I am being unrealistic about the timing, though. It might not be that easy to arrive at MK at 8am, then be at 'Ohana by 10:30.

Why do you think 8:00 is best for Tusker House?

Thank you!

The food being brought to the table is very appealing, I didn't realize that's how breakfast is done there. Thanks!

I was wondering if we'd feel rushed with a 10:30-ish reservation. I'm sorry you had a bad experience at Tusker House. That's a long wait for breakfast with an ADR, I wonder what happened there. Thanks!

I like the idea of having breakfast in the park before it opens. Maybe it will just come down to the schedule in the end. Thank you!

I was going to let the ADR determine which park we'd be at (we'd probably go to the park before breakfast, if we have a later ADR). Maybe I should choose the park first instead. I need to get decisive here! Thank you so much for the help.

Tusker house get the first reservation and you are already at the park when it opens so you can book it over to the safari ride first with little or no wait!

If you are looking at a 10:30ish time I would go with Tusker House. . .and this is why. On our first trip we were at MK and had a late breakfast scheduled for Chef Mickey's. . .the food was fine and the character interaction was good, but trying to pull my family away from touring in MK was like pulling teeth! We were deep in the park by that time and leaving to go to CR felt like a major PITA! On our second trip I scheduled a late breakfast at Crystal Palace instead and that was sooooo much better! Not having to leave a park to go eat is just what works best for my family. I think hitting AK early, getting some good touring in and then breaking for a late breakfast within the park is just better than touring and then having to stop everything to leave the park.

This is an older thread, but my vote would go to TH.

I'd go with the 10:15am reservation. Get there for rope drop and get FP for the big rides and go on the safari before you eat. Or ride any of the ones that you don't want to ride on a full stomach.

'Ohana breakfast has dissappointed me twice. The menu is set so why do they always forget to give me the food? First time I took my older niece who is lactose intollerant. The server brought us the fruit tray and then eventually the skillet. I asked why I didn't receive any bread or mickey waffles-I was told because my niece is lactose intollerant. No kidding! The chef had already come to the table and told us she was making her special waffles. She already was eating them when I asked for some.

Second time (last year) I took my younger niece to 'Ohana for breakfast. This time the server didn't bring the fruit tray. When I inquired about the fruit tray I was told I had to ask for it. Really? Never had that happen before.
